Univision, a radical immigration advocacy PAC with a broadcast license seeking government permission to become a foreign-owned entity exercising undue influence in our electoral process, has predictably taken a side in the Great Goya War of 2020.
Watch as former Congressman Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), who infamously compared convicted FALN terrorist Oscar Lopez Rivera to George Washington, proceeded to blast Goya CEO Bob Unanue for having the audacity to...pray for President Donald Trump.
JORGE RAMOS: Another issue I wanted to discuss with you was the statements made by Goya's CEO at the White House. at the White House. This is what Bob Unanue said about President Donald Trump:
BOB UNANUE, CEO, GOYA: ...we are all truly blessed at the same time to have a leader like President Trump, who is a builder. And that’s what my grandfather did. He came to this country- to build, to grow, to prosper. And so we have an incredible builder, and we pray. We pray for our leadership, for our President, and we pray for our country- that we will continue to prosper and to grow.
RAMOS:Luis, (why is there) so much controversy regarding those statements? What is behind that?
FORMER U.S. REP. LUIS GUTIERREZ (D-IL): Well first, let us understand something. If I pray for someone or something, it's because I want to see them be well. Because I love them. Because I care for them. Goya's CEO says that he prays for Donald Trump. A president- in other words, while he is praying for Donald Trump, Donald Trump wants to expel- deport over 700,000 DREAMers from the country. He wants- and you know this, Jorge- He put children in cages. He abused those kids in cages, when they came to this country seeking refuge. Some of those children died. How can you pray for a man that hates us so much? When people see me, Jorge, they see a brown man. They see a mulatto, a mestizo. They see a man of color, as are most Hispanics in the United States. The CEO of Goya IS NOT LATINO. Therefore, I understand what his view might be. But I want to be clear. This president is an ally to Nazis. He is an ally to the extreme right. Which is proposing more and more hatred against our community. And you pray for him???
The concepts of Christian charity seems to be lost on Gutierrez, who appears to have never heard of the concept of loving (or praying for) thine enemies. Also take note of the picture behind Gutierrez. That’s none other than his “comrade” and “brother”, the unrepentant Marxist terrorist Oscar Lopez Rivera, who got a full 22 minutes from Univision when President Barack Obama commuted his sentence for seditious conspiracy (among other things).
Of course, Gutierrez got no pushback whatsoever from Jorge Ramos for that. Nor did he get any pushback for saying that Unanue is "not a Latino". Perhaps none was ever to be expected, given Ramos' own history of such statements, and his uncritical enabling of other such racial disqualifications on his show. It is nonetheless refreshing to see Gutierrez confirm what we've suspected all along: that the artificial ethnic construct known as "Latino (or Latinx)" is entirely political.
And it is understandable that there would be no pushback at Univision. Remember what former President of News Isaac Lee said about Univision’s editorial policies and how Jorge Ramos does news:
I think if you are an American journalist covering the Second World War, it’s not a problem for you to want the Nazis to lose. And I don’t think you need to be saying ‘Well, you know, the Allied Expeditionary Force Commander says this, and on the other hand the Fuhrer says that.’ I think it’s ok to understand that sometimes you have to be on the right side of the issues in history.
If you stand against Univision’s policy preferences on immigration or anything else, you’re akin to a Nazi as a matter of editorial policy and in the case of Goya’s CEO, “not a Latino”. Therefore Gutierrez gets no pushback for what are clearly outrageous statements.
