The unrelenting liberal bias and political activism of Spanish-language television giant Univision during 2016 have finally sparked protest activity in front of the network’s Doral, Florida studios.
A diverse and surprisingly numerous coalition of Trump supporters in South Florida - estimated by the Doral Police Department to number in the hundreds - made a spirited show of force outside Univision, calling on the network to “Tell the truth!” and “Stop being activists for amnesty!”
JUAN FIOL, PROTEST ORGANIZER: We’re here in front of Univision, we’re doing a protest. Well, it’s a demonstration. It’s a unity rally. We’re gonna teach… we’re gonna tell, we’re going to ask Univision to please tell the truth, to stop being activists for amnesty and to be journalists.
UNIDENTIFIED PROTESTER: [In Spanish] Be journalists, don’t be activists! Journalism is impartial!
JUAN FIOL: USA! USA! USA! USA! Alright, here we are, that building behind me, that big building with all those satellite dishes… that is Univision. They’re not real journalists. That’s not a news organization. That is an activist organization.
The protesters included representatives of African Americans for Trump, Cubans4Trump, Hispanas for Trump and Miami Dade Volunteers for Trump, among others. The network did not make any mention of the protests in its national newscasts.
True to form and adding fuel to the fire, instead, the network chose to air a one-sided report in its national evening newscast about a much smaller group of anti-Trump activists who demonstrated against the opening of the landmark new Trump hotel in Washington, following the Trump Organization’s $200 million renovation of the Old Post Office Building, the third tallest building in the Nation’s Capital.
Below is the transcript of the video of the protest against Univision’s bias, obtained thanks to Juan Fiol, and the cited report broadcast on the September 12 edition of Noticiero Univision.
