It’s Episode 50 of CensorTrack with TR. This week, we talked about how Big Tech repeatedly targets The Babylon Bee’s satirical content.
It has become quite common for Big Tech to censor content that it doesn’t like. Lately, social media fact checkers have been working overtime to censor conservative content — even jokes.
The Babylon Bee is a satire site that aims to provide comedic relief. It’s content regularly pokes fun at leftist lunacy, which ends up being quite entertaining.
Most recently, The Babylon Bee said Google was responsible for censorship. The group’s CEO Seth Dillion tweeted that Google removed The Babylon Bee’s app from its store on August 8. When the MRC CensorTrack team checked Google for the app on Aug. 8, it was not accessible. The app is back up now, but no response was provided from Google when MRC Free Speech America reached out for comment.
Other Big Tech platforms also got in on the censorship action. The Meta platform Facebook censored The Babylon Bee back in June over a satirical parody video about a pregnant Ken doll. Dillon said Twitter locked The Babylon Bee out of its account in May after the satire group stated that “The Babylon Bee’s Man Of The Year Is Rachel Levine.” Facebook removed one of The Babylon Bee’s articles titled “Trans Woman Breaks Jeopardy Record, Proving Once And For All That Men Are Smarter Than Women.” Facebook also limited the monetization of The Babylon Bee’s clip that joked about a non-binary James Bond.
Big Tech censorship almost exclusively sides with leftist ideology, and its bias is perhaps most evident with its repeated attacks against even mere jokes.
