Fox News China Expert Gordon Chang called out Mr. “Science” over alleged COVID-19 lies in exclusive comments to MRC Free Speech America.
“The First Amendment is based upon the marketplace of ideas,” which requires debate of controversial topics, Fox News China expert Gordon Chang said in exclusive comments to MRC Free Speech America. He critiqued government-tech collusion for violating the First Amendment.
Free speech is the “the foundation of American democracy,” Chang told MRC Free Speech America on July 31. Chang reacted to Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) referring former NIAID Director Dr. Anthony Fauci for criminal charges after email evidence indicated Fauci lied in Congressional testimony about COVID-19’s origins and National Institutes of Health (NIH) funding to the Wuhan Institute of Virology. Fauci was one of the government officials whose assertions were used to censor Americans’ speech, under pressure from the federal government. Such censorship is a “First Amendment violation,” Chang stated. He also said, “Fauci had to know that he was committing perjury.”
Chang noted that there are “two published scientific papers” written by the Wuhan Institute of Virology researchers. “Those clearly describe gain-of-function experimentation, and both of them specifically acknowledge funding from Fauci’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases [NIAID],” Chang went on. Since Fauci “had to know about this,” it’s “an indication that Fauci committed perjury,” Chang added.
According to Chang, “it’s clear” that Fauci’s funding enabled “gain-of-function at the Wuhan Institute, so Fauci had to know about this.” But the newly unearthed email is particularly damning. “This most recent email disclosure from February 2020 is further indication that Fauci had to know that he was committing perjury, but clearly he was not telling the truth and was lying,” Chang insisted.
Chang went on to note that the “First Amendment is based upon the marketplace of ideas, that eventually accurate and truthful ideas will win out. And that can only happen if they are fully debated.” But “they can’t be fully debated if somebody makes a determination beforehand that certain ideas should not be disseminated.”
Big Tech companies are privately owned, “and so they have First Amendment rights,” but they also censor at government bequest, which totally changes their private status, Chang noted. “And that clearly is a First Amendment violation, because they were acting in accordance with the State’s wishes,” he said. “It’s very simple,” Chang ended. “That’s the foundation of American democracy.”

For instance, Climate Change Dispatch was temporarily suspended from Twitter after posting an article about Fauci’s emails, and Informed Consent Action Network’s (ICAN) account was locked. Meanwhile, MRCTV’s “Reality Check” was fact-checked on Facebook for talking about Fauci’s emails.
