YouTube finally broke its silence on the ridiculous reason it muzzled The Michael Knowles Show’s channel.
The anti-free speech platform told The Daily Wire host Michael Knowles that he violated YouTube’s “Hate Speech” policy when he said men cannot be women.” The alleged violation prompted YouTube to ban the popular conservative channel for one week after he called the leftist idea that men can be women ”delusional.”
After the suspension, Knowles said the platform claimed that implying that transgender individuals are “mentally inferior” is hate speech.“I described the notion that men can be women as ‘delusional.’” Knowles tweeted on Tuesday. “According to YouTube, this opinion, which has been held by virtually every person who has ever lived, implies that some groups are "mentally inferior" and thus constitutes ‘hate speech.’”
YouTube also claimed Knowles’ opinion of how one might hypothetically “respond to a loved one who has fallen under the sway of transgender ideology” is so-called hate speech. Knowles blasted the platform’s rationale as nonsensical, accusing it of being yet another example of one-sided censorship online.
“@YouTube claims that the suggestion that this hypothetical loved one might have some psychological problems constitutes ‘hate speech,’” he said in a second tweet.
He also pointed out that his views on transgenderism align with Abrahamic religions lasting thousands of years. “The opinion for which @YouTube banned me this week is not only true but also commonly held. It's the view of Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. It's the view of philosophers and biologists,” he said. “And today, if you state that view on YouTube, you could be banned for ‘hate speech.’”
He said he stood by his comments and directed viewers who oppose the censorship to watch his show directly on The Daily Wire’s website. Knowles’ suspension is the latest act in YouTube’s anti-free speech war against The Daily Wire.
MRC Free Speech America reported earlier in the week that YouTube’s censorship campaign began after the platform demonetized the account of What is a Woman? Director Matt Walsh, who also hosts The Matt Walsh Show. YouTube later suspended the channels of Candace Owens and Knowles for undefined “hate speech.” The Daily Wire CEO Jeremy Boreing said the censorship campaign is a consequence of the outlet’s coverage of the left’s “transgender” agenda.
“Over 25% of the US population gets its news from @YouTube, and The Daily Wire is one of the largest news brands in the space,” Boreing tweeted after the suspensions. “Last week, our accounts had over 157M views on @YouTube. That’s over 20M views a day. Yet we are on the verge of losing access to the platform.”
