President Joe Biden’s leftist nominee Gigi Sohn will not be joining the Federal Communications Commission. She threw a fit over it in an interview with The Washington Post.
Now that Sohn has withdrawn her nomination, she is blaming everyone else for it. In an exclusive interview with The Post, Sohn said in the days leading up to her withdrawal top Senate Democrat Sen. Maria Cantwell (D-WA) told her she would not get confirmed by the Senate.“They basically said, ‘There's no path forward for you,’” Sohn said. “‘At that point, what was the point?” She also expressed her frustration about not being able to defend her partisan, anti-free speech views to the public. “‘The one thing you don't do as a nominee is you don't defend yourself … you've got to keep your mouth shut,’” she said. Of course, The Post never disclosed how Sohn was deeply connected to leftist billionaire George Soros, which MRC Business exposed in November, 2021.
Sohn said she plans on writing a book about her failed bid to become an FCC Commissioner.
“‘I definitely feel like I’ve got a book to write,’” she told The Post. “There's been a bunch of stuff that's happened over the past 16 months…that is going to make people's eyes bug out.” Sohn did not elaborate on what that “stuff” was.
A White House official disputed Sohn’s claims.
The official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity to The Post, reportedly said the administration “‘worked tirelessly to move Gigi’s nomination’” and that Sohn’s hearings gave her “‘the chance to push back and dispel the misconceptions that dark money and influence were trafficking in.’”
Asked if she would go through the confirmation process again, Sohn said no.
“‘No. … This is too stressful,’” she said in hindsight according to The Post. “‘It’s too hard on my family, just too difficult,’” she said.
Conservatives have long expressed concern about Sohn’s anti-free speech views.
MRC Free Speech America reported earlier in the month that free speech advocates urged senators not to support President Joe Biden’s appalling pick:
“Fifteen free speech advocates, including MRC Free Speech America Vice President Dan Schneider, just signed a letter to Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation Chairwoman Maria Cantwell (D-WA) and Ranking Member Ted Cruz (R-TX) urging them to oppose Sohn’s nomination. The letter provided evidence that Sohn is a ‘partisan actor’ who is ‘unqualified’ to be Federal Communications Commission (FCC) commissioner, with ‘serious conflicts of interest.’”
Sohn previously mocked claims that a biased censorship of conservatives exists online. One troubling comment provided insight into Sohn’s authoritarian views.
Sohn suggested in 2018 that Sinclair Broadcasting should lose its FCC license because of its alleged political bias, which she said “calls into question Sinclair’s fitness to be a broadcast licensee.” Sohn added, “Will @FCC do anything when Sinclair’s licenses are up for renewal?”
