While the nation was struggling to go to work and keep businesses open, managing restriction after restriction, the government was secretly dishing out billions to fund more and more abortions.
According to a report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO), abortion providers received nearly $2 billion in federal funds between fiscal year 2019 to fiscal year 2021, right at the height of the Coronavirus pandemic, Newsmax reported Tuesday.
During the time, Planned Parenthood received $1.78 billion, the International Planned Parenthood received $2.03 million, the MSI Reproductive Choices received $1.35 million and “four domestic regional abortion providers received $107.74 million,” Newsmax indicated.
That’s a hell of a lot of money to fund more death when at the time, people were dying all over the world from Covid.
In response to the news, Senator Marsha Blackburn was shocked. Here’s part of her statement Tuesday.
It is appalling that big abortion providers are continuing to receive billions of dollars in federal taxpayer funding. While small businesses struggled to make ends meet during the pandemic, Planned Parenthood illegally siphoned over $90 million from the Paycheck Protection Program, specifically designed to help our mom and pop shops keep their doors open. The American people want their tax dollars spent responsibly and in line with our nation’s values — not on the Left’s abortion-on-demand agenda.
Our taxpayer money wasn’t going to these businesses that needed help. Our money went to places that dedicate their efforts to killing babies. This is outrageous.
Blackburn's statement indicated that Planned Parenthood performed 1.11 million abortions while receiving their $1.78 billion dollars from our taxpayer funds. That's a heartbreaking reality
To make matters worse, Planned Parenthood also received $90.4 million in forgiven Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. Those loans, according to Blackburn's press release, were intended by Congress “to assist independent small businesses with less than 500 employees.”
Here’s what Newsmax noted as well:
Under the Biden administration’s Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), obligations to Planned Parenthood increased from $5.71 million to $27.06 million between 2021 and 2022, representing a 373% increase, the GAO report found.
Blackburn said it best when she called these moves “appalling” because that’s exactly what this is.
