Well, here’s another confusing day for the Catholic Church. The Church is already dealing with numerous issues, but unfortunately, Pope Francis is only increasing the doctrinal confusion among his laity.
According to Yahoo! News, Pope Francis wants to give women more top-level positions in the Holy See, including the appointment of bishops, he revealed in an interview on July 2. 
The 85-year-old Pontiff discussed numerous topics during his interview with Reuters, including the role of women in the Vatican hierarchy. "I am open to giving (women) an opportunity," he said in the part of the 90-minute interview that discussed the new constitution for the central administration, known as the Curia. The new Vatican constitution allows any baptized Catholic, including lay men and women, to head many Vatican departments, leading to speculation about the concept of women being involved in the appointment of bishops.
"Two women will be appointed for the first time in the committee to elect bishops in the Congregation for Bishops," he said."This way, things are opening up a bit." While Francis has already named women to Vatican departments, this move is causing more confusion for the average Catholic. The appointment of Catholic bishops is a very tenuous and rigid process tied to the tradition of the Church. Does this mean that women are technically above bishops? If that’s the case, can women become priests? The potential for women to help appoint bishops only causes more confusion in the Church.
The Church needs to stop engaging in battles that only confuse the laity. Instead, the Church should be active in fighting against the debauched leftist mob, not shooting itself in the foot.
