Actress Martha Plimpton’s comments on her “best abortion” went viral both in the media and on Twitter. But she’s still defending every single word.

On September 1, MRC Culture broke the story the story of Plimpton (The Goonies, The Real O’Neals) laughing about her “best abortion” during a #ShoutYourAbortion event held in Seattle.

“I also had my first abortion here at the Seattle Planned Parenthood,” she said, cheering. “Notice I said ‘first.’ I said ‘first.’ And I don’t want Seattle – I don’t want you guys to feel insecure, it was my best one,” she joked to laughter from both the audience and Mississippi abortionist Willie Parker.

Her comments went viral. The video now boasts more than 45,000 views and has been picked up outlets including Fox News, The Washington Times, New York Daily News, Life News, The Daily Caller, Breitbart, IJ Review, The Blaze, Daily Mail, The Daily Wire and The Christian Post.

That’s not to mention the Twitter reaction at Plimpton’s nonchalant tone towards abortion. But Plimpton is defending her comments even now. On Sep. 6, she began responding to the Twitter storm.

“Rejecting the false shame & isolation antis want to impose on those who exercise the Constitutional right to #abortion is my entire point,” she began.

She went on to repeat that Seattle gave her the “best” care and argued that abortionists provide “basic healthcare.”

More specifically, she called calling Planned Parenthood abortionists “some of the best physicians in the country.”

“I will never be ashamed of getting health care I needed, wanted, and received from @PPact & will fight 4 everyone's right 2 the same,” she added.

Ironically, according to her, abortion is “life affirming” and “saves lives.”

Then she began addressing pro-lifers challenging her on Twitter. To one, she insisted, “I didn’t have a baby. I had an abortion.”

Later on, she told “antis,” or pro-lifers who challenged her comments, to “shut it.”

On Twitter, where she describes herself as “pro-choice/repro justice and proud of it,” Plimpton has routinely vocalized abortion support in the past.

The actress serves on the board of A is For, a nonprofit seeking to normalize abortion. In 2016, Plimpton modeled a dress printed with the word “abortion” multiple times, along with little hearts. The year before, ABC’s Nightline featured Plimpton in a segment on the #ShoutYourAbortion campaign.

“Abortion is not some crazy weird last resort,” Plimpton said before revealing her two abortions. “It is a normal part of women’s medical lives.”

In 2014, reacting to the Supreme Court’s decision in the Hobby Lobby case, Plimpton insisted that abortion “reinforces” motherhood.
