Former President Donald Trump loves to get in his digs at LeBron James’ expense. During a Saturday speech, Trump said that if he coached a women’s basketball team, James would make a great addition as a transgender player. He joked that he would coax James to join his team.
Speaking at Turning Point USA's Student Action Summit in Tampa, the ex-president poked fun of men playing on women's sports teams and how idiotic it is to allow that to happen. Trump mentioned some of the men abusing the woke, foolish policies that have allowed men to dominate in women’s sports.
The Trump statement follows by just a few days Pennsylvania University’s nomination of Will “Lia” Thomas for the NCAA Woman of the Year award. He’s a man who masqueraded as a woman and dominated women’s collegiate swimming, completely swamping the competitive balance of the sport.
Recruiting men to take over women’s athletics would make Trump "the greatest of all time," he said. The audience got where he was going with this and erupted in applause and approval. Trump said:
If I were a basketball coach of the women's team, I would be the greatest coach of all time. I'm not a fan of Lebron James at all, I don't like him, but I say 'Lebron, did you ever think of becoming a woman? Did you ever because I'd like to have you on my team. I'd love to have you on our team Lebron.’ But, think of it it's so crazy what's happening.
If SJWs think transgenders should have an open door to play with the girls, then let them take it to the extreme to show just how badly it will wreak havoc on women’s sports.
"It's not politically correct to do what I just did … people are not allowed to talk about it," Trump added.
James has never won a WNBA championship, and as the architect of championship teams, perhaps he could persuade Steph Curry and Kevin Durant to join him on his women’s team. Guaranteed a WNBA championship, it would be the final cap to his – er, uh, her – great career.
Trump and James detest each other, and they’ve exchanged numerous unpleasantries several times over the last few years. James once called then President Trump a “bum”. In April 2021, Trump called him a "racist" and "divisive" for tweeting about the police killing the black 16-year-old Ma'Khia Bryant. James tweeted a photo of white cop Nicholas Reardon, who killed Bryant in Columbus, Ohio, stating: "you're next #accountability."
Bryant was attacking people with a knife and he was shot down to protect their lives. Rather than admitting he’d blundered by wrongly assuming this was a repeat of the George Floyd situation, James said, "I took the tweet down because its being used to create more hate. This isn't about one officer. it's about the entire system and they always use our words to create more racism. I am so desperate for more ACCOUNTABILITY," James tweeted in a follow-up.
There was no left-stream media outrage over James’ race-laden assumption. "The media is very unfairly biased in favor of him because he's a Democrat, and I think it's a disgrace,” Trump said at Turning Point USA’s summit.
