Here is the current state of the radical left. So far this election cycle, besides blaming every bad thing in the known universe on President Trump, they are asking us to defund the police after violent riots, and they demand that we are punished for saying that only women can menstruate. Seriously, lefty author J.K. Rowling has found herself condemned for insisting that only biological women can menstruate.
The Harry Potter creator appealed to a more concrete view of human anatomy on Jun. 6, mocking an op-ed from Devex.com which talked about “menstrual equality” in the time of Chinese virus. It was the far left take that that not only women, but “gender non-binary persons” could menstruate as well. Typical.
Rowling poked fun at the unnecessary breakdown of female bodily processes in the article’s headline, tweeting sarcastically, “‘People who menstruate.’ I’m sure there used to be a word for those people. Someone help me out. Wumben? Wimpund? Woomud?”
Very cheeky. But the rest of the internet didn’t appreciate her sense of humor. Several blue checks accused the author of being “transphobic” and an “asshole” because Rowling affirmed that no matter what they call themselves or how they “identify,” only women have periods, period.
Survivor contestant and trans man insisted on the insanity in his reply to Rowling’s tweet. The biological woman tweeted, “Hi! I'm a man! I menstruate! Stop being an asshole!” Woke period tracking company Clue tried to educate Rowling into insanity with their pseudoscience, tweeting, “Hi @jk_rowling, using non-gendered language is about moving beyond the idea that woman = uterus. Feminists were once mocked for wanting to change sexist language, but it’s now common to say firefighter instead of fireman.” Well, that’s stupid.
Singer Mary Lambert attempted to educate the children’s author as well, tweeting, “This is so disgraceful, @jk_rowling. Of all the hills to die on, and for what reason? Trans women are women and they are fighting for their lives.” Yes, J.K. Rowling’s speech is killing people, guys. Surely.
Still the Harry Potter creator defended her position and claimed that changing language like this to accommodate the feelings of trans folk diminishes the significance of womanhood. She followed up her initial comments, saying, “If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives."
She added, “It isn’t hate to speak the truth.” Such a sensible defense of true woman-ness sparked even further outrage from the leftist rage mob. Artist/musician Brad Walsh replied to Rowling, tweeting, “You’re a smart person. How do you not yet understand the difference between sex and gender? The only way I can possibly explain your ignorance at this point is willfulness. It’s incredibly disappointing.”
RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant Scarlet Envy tweeted, “You’ve written so many, but these are the words you will be remembered for.” That’s constructive. And woke Twitter comedian Eva Victor responded, “it’s interesting how you’re able to be so wrong and offensive over and over and over again (but ultimately not that interesting).” Oh man, what a wicked burn. Just kidding.
Though we don’t think these folks should be too proud of aggressively dunking on biological reality. This pseudoscience adds to the confusion, which is undoubtedly the real reason as to why trans folks have such difficult lives. Stay with it, J.K.!
