If Freeform’s racist sitcom and black-ish spinoff grown-ish is to be believed, that’s what marriage boils down to. So, remind us again why the left fought so hard for gay marriage?
grown-ish takes place at fictional “Cal U” (California University), and season five features an all-new cast in addition to a few regulars from the original series that launched in 2018.
On Wednesday’s episode, “It’s a Vibe,” the new characters are sitting at a hookah bar discussing their thoughts on marriage after witnessing a failed marriage proposal between two original characters:
Annika: Do not ever propose to me in public.
Junior: Hold up. Propose? Like, marriage? This is moving quicker than J. Lo after a breakup.
Lauryn: I don't know. I wouldn't mind a public proposal.
Zaara: Ugh! Yazmine is pro-marriage. Who even is into marriage anymore? Bitch...
Kiela: What? No. It's just... If we keep our bank accounts separate, I wouldn't mind jumping the broom.
Zaara: No. Marriage is a heteronormative and oppressive institution.
Lauryn: I just don't think there's any greater bond than the one you make with your partner in front of God and your family.
Zaara: Ugh. You are like a walking red state.
Bear in mind, Zaara (Tara Raani) is a lesbian. Strange that liberal Hollywood would have an LGBTQ+ character be so vehemently against marriage, especially since the left has been so outspoken against the possibility of gay marriage being made illegal after Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court back in June.
Then again, when has liberalism ever made any sense?
