Local Police Repeatedly Warned Va. Attorney Not to Release Illegal Alien Murder Suspect

Fairfax County, Virginia police previously warned their Commonwealth attorney’s office at least three times not to release the illegal alien charged with stabbing to death a woman at a bus stop last week – but, Attorney Steve Descano’s office released him, anyway, documents obtained through the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA) reveal.

“I just received emails in a FOIA request showing the Fairfax County Police Department WARNED Fairfax County Commonwealth’s Attorney Steve Descano’s office in November 2025 about Abdul Jalloh, who is now charged with murdering Stephanie Minter at a bus stop last week,” local WJLA 7 reporter Nick Minock wrote in a social media post on Wednesday.

“According to emails I obtained, Fairfax County police didn't warn Fairfax County Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano's office once, but at least three times last year about a violent illegal immigrant who is now charged with murdering a Virginia mother,” Minock followed up:

“And what did Descano's office do? Drop charges and let the man return to the community.”

In an article posted on the station’s website, Minock quotes a Fairfax County police major who wrote to Deputy Commonwealth’s Attorney Jenna Sands expressing concern that Jalloh, an illegal alien with a long and extensive criminal history, was released early.

“[I]t is not a question of if, but rather when [Jollah] will maliciously wound (or worse) again,” the command officer warns:

“I wanted to bring Mr. Jalloh’s release to your attention, because Mr. Jalloh is one of the repeat (and violent) offenders we discussed when we met. I wanted to get your background on why he is out so soon and ask if his prior suspended sentence (of | believe 5 years) was pursued by your office? Unfortunately, based on MTV [Police] Station’s numerous dealings with him, it is not a question of if, but rather when he will maliciously wound (or worse) again. My role of keeping the public safe, prompts me to follow up on his status.”

WJLA’s Minock also obtained a May 2025 email sent by Fairfax County police asking Descano’s office to argue against releasing Jollah from an adult detention center, given his “history of stabbing community members.”

As CNSNews has reported, Jollah, who has no fixed address, has been illegally present in the U.S. since 2012 and has been arrested more than 30 times – but, continually released back into the Northern Virginia community with charges dropped by Descano’s office.

Additionally, Democrat Virginia Governor Abigail Spanberger announced this week that she will not honor U.S. Customs and Immigration Enforcement’s (ICE) request to take custody of Jalloh in order to deport him.

Charges accumulated by Jalloh during his 14-year illegal presence in the U.S. include:

  • Rape.
  • Malicious wounding.
  • Assault.
  • Drug possession.
  • Identity theft.
  • Trespassing.
  • Larceny.
  • Firing a weapon.
  • Contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
  • Pick pocketing.
