MRC’s Gainor: Media Freaking Over President ‘Who Doesn’t Bow to Their Wishes’

Appearing on Cavuto: Coast to Coast, MRC Vice President of Business and Culture Dan Gainor criticized journalists for assuming they deserved a place in the White House press corps.

Coast to Coast host Neil Cavuto reported Jan. 16, that President-elect Donald Trump provoked a “hellacious reaction” when he proposed doubling the size of the White House press corps.

Gainor said that the media were freaking out “they may encounter a president who doesn’t bow to their wishes.”

Part of journalists’ concerns, according to Gainor, was that they wrongly saw new outlets as a threat to their “right” to take a seat in the White House press room.

“You don’t have a right to be, to do that and every outlet has a chance to be in there too,” Gainor argued.

Expanding the press corps would allow for the inclusion of more conservative outlets, but that might upset the liberal media. Opening the White House press corps to more outlets would allow Trump to reach more people, rather than having “his hands tied by traditional outlets.”

“They don’t want anybody else to ask anything that’s like a friendly question,” he said.

In the past, the liberal media have been very hostile to Trump. The MRC found that during the 2016 presidential cycle, 91 percent of ABC, CBS and NBC’s opinionated statements made during evening newscasts were “hostile” toward Trump.
