The leftist U.K. outlet BBC News actually found the space to promote climate "ninjas" fighting the woke fight against climate change as a serious news item.
BBC ran a leftist feature highlighting the so-called “Team Ninja Trollhunters” fighting climate change denialism on Twitter. The article’s author — BBC’s very own climate disinformation specialist Marco Silva — dubbed Maria and Arthur, the duo behind the climate change troll-related group warriors of “fact-checking false or misleading claims.” But Silva neglected to cite these climate change troll hunters' credentials or even their last names.
“Like some of her fellow vigilantes, she has a background in science, which comes in handy when looking through complex research,” Silva claimed. “The ‘ninjas’ began keeping tabs on prominent Twitter accounts which disputed the basic science of climate change. Whenever those users tweeted something which broke the platform's rules, they would report them.”
The anti-speech climate change troll hunters took credit for helping to suppress “600 Twitter accounts promoting climate change denial.” It is unclear which Twitter policies those users violated.
“Climate change denial is not forbidden on Twitter, but some other types of content are,” the author decried while equally flirting with the idea that speech that doesn’t fit the leftist ideology should be banned. “At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter whether they get suspended because of Covid-19 misinformation or Nazi symbols,” ‘ninja’ Maria told the BBC. “When they’re gone, they’re gone.”
The so-called ‘ninja’ duo gave up their cause on Twitter as Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter “hampered’ their efforts and they took issue with Elon Musk’s attempts to protect free speech and stop censorship. “Last November, the billionaire announced the platform would reinstate thousands of previously suspended accounts,” the author claimed. “That was a slap in the face,” Maria responded.
MRC Free Speech America, however, found that Twitter’s censorship rose under Musk’s leadership compared to the old anti-speech regime. The study found 293 cases of documented censorship since Musk took control from Nov. 4, 2022 through Mar. 4, 2023. That was 67 more than the 226 previously documented cases.
