The comrades at CNN were apparently called up to make a big deal about murderous communist China’s appearance at the COP30 climate change-obsessed summit in Brazil as Mother Earth’s valiant hero. As if CNN needed any other reason for the American people to view the network as nothing more than a manufacturer of public-relations videos for the CCP.
CNN International Senior News Desk Reporter Simone McCarthy’s header for the segment on the CNN website was almost too stupid to believe it wasn’t a Babylon Bee headline: “Could the world's biggest polluter be its savior against climate change?”
If that isn’t a glaring oxymoron, then we don’t know what is. McCarthy praised how China had sent the second-largest delegation to the COP30 summit, and used it as a sledgehammer against President Donald Trump for not buying into the eco-hysteria: “The U.S., meanwhile, did not attend the conference.” That should come as “no surprise,” lectured McCarthy, as “Trump has called climate change the biggest con job perpetuated against the world and withdrawn the U.S. from the Paris Climate Accords twice.”
But never fear, exclaimed McCarthy, “even before that, China was already stepping up.” Three cheers for the commies! Hip-hip — oh, whatever.
This "news" seems even more rigged when you discover McCarthy didn’t disclose how its parent company Warner Bros. Discovery (then-Warner Bros.) has lucrative business interests in China. In 2015, Warner Bros. signed an agreement with the China state-controlled China Media Capital (CMC) to form the joint venture Flagship Entertainment Group to develop, produce and distribute “a slate of Chinese-language films, including global tent poles, for distribution in China and around the world,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Seems like a pretty significant conflict of interest, but who’s paying attention?
McCarthy celebrated China as being the “largest producer of green technologies” and the “biggest investor in clean energy.” She slobbered over China’s phony pledge to reduce emissions by ten percent by 2035, of which she propagandized that “progress is already happening.” She pointed to a study arguing that “China’s carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions were unchanged from a year earlier in the third quarter of 2025, extending a flat or falling trend that started in March 2024,” of which she tried to put more emphasis on the “falling” part of the piece without spending too much time honing in on how China’s emissions were “unchanged.”
It’s the equivalent of mindlessly celebrating a baseball team barely winning 50 percent of its games in a season.

However, this is meaningless in terms of the greater context. The liberal science journal Nature also published a study November 12 determining that China “now accounts for nearly one-third of the world’s greenhouse-gas emissions.” The culprit, according to the analysis, is China’s “vast and still-growing fleet of coal-fired power plants, which burnt nearly 2.3 billion tons of coal last year, according to the International Energy Agency.” As the old adage goes: Talk is cheap.
McCarthy simply glossed over China’s continued building of coal plants without giving too much detail, which completely undercuts its clean-energy image, and instead highlighted “China’s ambition to become a clean energy superpower.” It’s like promoting a company’s clean water project while simultaneously admitting that it’s also poisoning the sewer system. It makes zero sense!
But as long as the main target is Trump, the Communist News Network — er, CNN — will celebrate communists even if it means looking like the public relations arm for the hammer and sickle movement. Tóngzhìmen xīnkǔ le (Comrades, you worked hard)!
