It was only a matter of time before a show centered on the LGBT community and AIDs in the late 1980s would push the myth that Ronald Reagan turned a blind eye to AIDs. Sunday night’s episode of FX’s Pose falsely claimed President Reagan “will not say the word ‘AIDS.’"

Freeform is known for having its overblown, progressive teen dramas, so Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger using the phrase “check your privilege” only mildly annoyed me. Following up with the belief that "this whole country's trying to kill [black people] every day," however, is where I would hope to draw the line.

Tuesday night, TVLand’s normally apolitical sitcom Teachers joined the ranks of TV shows ridiculing religious people. In the episode, “Of Lice and Men,” public school teacher Mary Louise (Katie O’Brien) walks in on her pastor masturbating to a picture of her boyfriend.

Actor Chris Pratt accepted the 2018 MTV Movie & TV Awards show’s Generation Award and delivered a powerful and moving speech to the young audience that was sorely needed. Taped on June 16, the show was broadcast June 18 and Pratt’s speech alone was worth slogging through the rest of the show.

Sooner or later, every terrorist group comes out with a list of demands. The violent, ultra-feminist group in AMC’s Dietland is no exception as they finally make their demands known in the June 18 episode “F…This.” What a surprise, it involves equal pay plus reparations.

It only took two episodes for the second season of TNT’s over the top dramedy series, Claws, to broach the topic of abortion. The storyline played out with some bizarre twists, including the young woman wondering if she is carrying “the next Obama” but then callously declaring she "D&C'd that shit, bitch!"

Freeform’s dramedy The Bold Type is (unfortunately) back for another season, and it’s disappointingly more of the same extremely liberal, sex-obsessed, storylines.

In a story about an oppressive near-future theocratic American society where women are treated like cattle to birth babies, everything is political. This week Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale even managed to weave a contemporary #MeToo narrative into the dystopian story based on the 1985 book by Margaret Atwood.

AMC’s new series Dietland got off to a less-than-admirable start in last week's premiere with its introduction of a murderous feminist group. It looks like it’s only going downhill from there. Now the show is digging deeper by proclaiming women are perpetual victims to violent, oppressive men.

These days, what’s an awards show without some politics mixed in, right? The latest example happened June 10 during the 72nd Annual Tony Awards on CBS, honoring the best on Broadway. The three-hour show started off relatively tame in comparison to some of the Hollywood extravaganzas but nonetheless, they persisted.

The season finale of Showtime’s Billions culminated in U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades (Paul Giamatti) attempting to remove Trump appointed Attorney General Waylon “Jock” Jeffcoat (Clancy Brown) from office. Last episode, after Chuck discovered that AG Jeffcoat, a parody of AG Jeff Sessions, earned all of his money illegally, he plans to lure Jeffcoat into obstructing justice. 

We’ve, sadly, not come a long way, baby! In Thursday’s premiere of Paramount Network’s American Woman, “Liberation,” we got a glimpse of how the script was flipped on the topic of abortion back in the disco decade.
