On Tuesday’s The View, liberal co-host Joy Behar eagerly cheered on Hillary Clinton’s decision to play the gender card against her Democratic challenger for president, Bernie Sanders.
Behar was reacting to Clinton, who during a campaign event in Iowa said “I've been told to stop shouting about ending gun violence. Well, I haven't been shouting but sometimes when a woman speaks out some people think it's shouting.”
Prior to Behar’s decision to celebrate Clinton’s use of the gender card, co-host Paula Faris pushed back at Hillary and argued she “can't always play the gender card and that was one of the criticisms during the debate. She said what would she do different than an Obama administration and she said I would be a woman.”
Behar immediately shot back at Faris and proclaimed “I don't agree with that because she's the first woman we've ever had in this position. Play it, play it.... Because it’s great to have a woman in this position and we should love it.”
Raven-Symone interjected into the discussion and brought up President Obama and wondered “Did anybody get mad when Obama played the black card?” to which Whoopi Goldberg appeared shocked and asked “Has he played it yet? Where was I? I missed that. Oh, my God.”
Once again, Behar rushed to Hillary’s defense and used Obama’s use of the race card to further justify Clinton’s decision to play the gender card: “You know what, here's the thing about that. He never plays it and yet he still gets accused of it. So, she might as well play the game, she gonna get the name.”
Raven-Symone actually pushed back and stressed “[y]ou can't play that card because you can't take it back and then you start saying look at the differences. I think personally me if I was running for president, take my gender out of it. Think of me for my mind...It's your duty to hold strong and say that’s your fault for doing that, I’m still here. .”

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Hey, you know, at the Democratic debate, Senator Bernie Sanders, your man, said all the shouting in the world will not help gun control. And Hillary seized upon that remark during a speech in Iowa. Take a look.
HILLARY CLINTON: I've been told to stop shouting about ending gun violence. Well, I haven't been shouting but sometimes when a woman speaks out some people think it's shouting.
JOY BEHAR: Two things really about that. Number one, why does she assume that it's Bernie who said that she was shouting? Number two, Bernie shouts more than Regis Philbin.
RAVEN-SYMONE: Thank you.
PAULA FARIS: But it is true. I will say--
BEHAR: Come on.
FARIS: She does have a point. I think when women shout --
BEHAR: Especially in bed, you know what I mean.
MICHELLE COLLINS: He’s the cover boy of shout magazine, I’m serious. Bernie is a shouter.
FARIS: When men shout, when they get forceful, it's a sign of strength. When women do I think it's kind of a sign of bitchiness. And so, I do understand where she's coming from. But if you want to be seen as a candidate, not as a male, not as a female, I’m just saying, you can't always play the gender card and that was one of the criticisms during the debate. She said what would she do different than an Obama administration and she said I would be a woman.
BEHAR: You know what, I don't agree with that because she's the first woman we've ever had in this position. Play it, play it.
RAVEN-SYMONE: No, no. Why?
BEHAR: Yes. Because it’s great to have a woman in this position and we should love it.
RAVEN-SYMONE: Can I interject? Can I interject? Did anybody get mad when Obama played the black card?
GOLDBERG: Has he played it yet? Where was I? I missed that. Oh, my God.
BEHAR: You know what, here's the thing about that. He never plays it and yet he still gets accused of it. So, she might as well play the game, she gonna get the name.
RAVEN-SYMONE: No, do not play that game.
FARIS: I don't think so.
RAVEN-SYMONE: You can't play that card because you can't take it back and then you start saying look at the differences. I think personally me if I was running for president, take my gender out of it. Think of me for my mind.
COLLINS: But it doesn't matter if you take your gender out of it. Everyone else is going to put it back into it.
RAVEN-SYMONE: It's your duty to hold strong and say that’s your fault for doing that, I’m still here. .
GOLDBERG: Here's my question. Did she yell?
BEHAR: No, not really.
FARIS: I think she was using it to her gain.
BEHAR: She was quiet in the Benghazi hearings. She was so quiet and so composed. She was brilliant.
GOLDBERG: I couldn't understand what the shouting is, when he was -- he was just saying if you -- is it like if you pee in the wind it's going to blow back on you? Is that what --
BEHAR: But I don't think, Whoopi, he was necessarily talking about her.
GOLDBERG: That's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying.
