CBS’ cop drama Blue Bloods decided to start season six with a bang. Although, thankfully for the people of NYC, that bang was averted. In an episode titled “Worst Case Scenario,” the Reagan family becomes aware of a bomb plot through a tipster. Acting on the tipster’s information, Danny Reagan, (Donnie Wahlberg) prepares to lead the raid into the suspected terrorist’s lair when all of a sudden another cop, apparently upset by the speed and efficiency of this anti-terror operation, throws some PC sand in the gears:
>> Muslims pray five times a day, right? All we gotta do is just watch, see which one of these guys pulls out a rug and gets down on their knees.
>> What does that matter, Danny? Just because they're Muslims doesn't mean they're terrorists.
>> I didn't say just 'cause they're Muslims they're terrorists, but I'm saying there's a certain profile they fit.
>> Really? STAs looked like a frat boy in that photo. Those two brothers from Boston did, too. It could be anyone now. That's what's so scary.
>> Right. And our job is to take all of 'em off the street.
Of course, “those two brothers from Boston” (the Tsarnaev brothers) absolutely were Muslims despite the fact that they looked like “frat boys.” One does not cease to become a Muslim once he puts on a pair of Dockers and turns his collar up. So the police really aren’t looking for “anybody” when they’re trying to prevent terror.
And a Muslim, even if he looks like something out of a “Southern Tide” catalog still prays on a rug. Which means scoping out a group of suspected terrorists and grabbing the one who pulls out a prayer rug is still a real winner of an idea.
No matter, though. Reagan’s sense of duty and common sense prevails over the PC-inspired hysteria and the raid continues, culminating in an awesome fight scene later in the show between Reagan and the terrorist. And because it’s contractually mandated that a Wahlberg brother never lose a fight in any movie or TV show they happen to appear in (must be because it never happens) I will spare you the drama of waiting to see who wins. But nonetheless, this is an awesome fight scene:
Love it when the good guys win. Need more of that.
