“It was a twin.” That was how one Planned Parenthood worker identified her victim in the latest video exposing the abortion giant’s trafficking of baby parts. It was in a video in which a Planned Parenthood official claimed that providing “intact fetal cadavers” are “just a matter of line items.”
The Center for Medical Progress (CMP) released a fifth investigative video August 4 showing Planned Parenthood executive Melissa Farrell revealing that her affiliate can “get creative” while aborting babies for certain parts – for compensation. The video also caught Planned Parenthood workers laughing over baby parts “mixed up in a bag” before sorting through little arms and legs and lungs and eyeballs.
Farrell is the Director of Research for Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast, “one of the largest and wealthiest” Planned Parenthood affiliates, according to CMP.
In the video, actors posing as buyers from a human biologics company spoke with Farrell in Houston about partnering up to harvest aborted baby organs on April 9.
Farrell advertised that she can offer “an edge over other organizations,” because “our organization has been doing research for many, many, many years.” She stressed that when researchers request a specific “portion of the product[s] of conception” or baby part, “we deviate from our standard in order to do that.”
“I’m telling you this so then we can get creative,” she said, “about when and where and under what conditions can we interject something that is specific to the tissue procurement needs.”
The procedure, she pressed, is “generally standardized.” “And I’m saying generally loosely,” she added.
Because, in her other words, the doctors abort babies in special ways to harvest their parts intact. “Some of our doctors in the past have projects and they’re collecting the specimens, so they do it in a way that they get the best specimens,” Farrell said.
The most shocking scenes came at the end of the video – where workers poked at arms, legs and organs in a dish with tweezers.
In the clinic’s pathological laboratory, where aborted baby parts are stored, the buyers asked to look at “fresh specimens.”
Laughing, the Planned Parenthood workers responded, “We had a really long day” and admitted “they’re all mixed up together in a bag.”
The babies, according to the workers, sometimes “come out really intact,” based on their age. They spoke of aborting to babies recently, one 5 weeks, 3 days old and another “a 20 [weeks old].” “It was a twin,” she added.
One clinic worker stressed how a woman’s dilation as well as her pain tolerance makes a difference in harvesting baby parts. “And if they’re completely relaxed,” she said, “it’s easier to not do so many passes with the forceps.”
At the beginning of the video, Farrell revealed that her department contributes to the organization “both locally and nationally” through a “diversification of the revenue stream.”
When the buyers asked Farrell how she would “frame” a contract where they pay more for quality parts, she responded, “We can work it out in the context of – obviously, the procedure itself is more complicated.”
For her affiliate, Farrell summarized how body-part payments work: “If we alter our process, and we are able to obtain intact fetal cadavers [corpses], then we can make it part of the budget that any dissections are this, and splitting the specimens into different shipments is this. I mean, that’s – it’s all just a matter of line items.”
In another clip, over lunch, Farrell suggested that her department’s sale of baby parts contribute to Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast’s overall finances. “I think everyone realizes, especially because my department contributes so much to the bottom line of our organization here, you know we’re one of the largest affiliates, our Research Department is the largest in the United States,” she boasted.
The video included a clip of a July 29 Texas Senate hearing where former Planned Parenthood Gulf Coast clinic director Abby Johnson estimated that the affiliate made up to $120,000 per month from baby parts.
But that’s not where all their money comes from. Planned Parenthood received more than $528 million in taxpayer funding during the fiscal year 2013-2014. That amounted to more than $1.4 million per day, through government grants, contracts and Medicaid reimbursements.
The video, following last week’s of Planned Parenthood workers laughing and sorting through “five-star” baby parts, is part of CMP’s years-long investigative study, “Human Capital.”
Media History
Since the release of CMP’s first video, the networks have proved hesitant to publicize the story. ABC, NBC and CBS covered the shooting of Cecil the lion more in one day than they did these videos in two weeks.
From the beginning, the liberal media raced to defend Planned Parenthood. In the first 9 hours and 30 minutes of news shows broadcast after the story broke, ABC, NBC and CBS, spent only 39 seconds on the first video. It took more than 24 hours before all three covered the story. In the week after the first video, the networks gave a mere 9 minutes and 11 seconds to the story (in contrast, the networks devoted more than three times that to the Susan G. Komen controversy, when the charity temporarily decided to defund the abortion giant).
Similarly, the media stayed silent on the case of Philadelphia abortionist Kermit Gosnell. Gosnell's trial, in which witnesses described baby abortion survivors “swimming" in toilets “to get out,” attracted a scant 12 – 15 reporters. Only after 56 days, multiple letters from members of the House of Representatives and a public outcry, did all three broadcast networks report on Gosnell.
Will the media stay silent on this latest video?
The Pro-life Reaction
In a press release, Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, commented that the video “talks about obtaining full fetal cadavers” and therefore “raises the disturbing question as to whether some of these babies are born alive and then killed.”
“Kermit Gosnell is serving life sentences for doing that,” he added. “It may be time for some Planned Parenthood doctors to join him in prison.”
Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, responded to the videos showing the “callousness of Planned Parenthood to eagerly strip away the human dignity of the prenatal child.”
“All the Senators who voted last night to keep funding Planned Parenthood with tax dollars need to answer for this video today and answer why they are funding such a disgusting, and likely criminal, organization,” she added.
Likewise, Live Action President Lila Rose challenged, “It’s time to end the government subsidy of Planned Parenthood and their brutal, inhuman trade of baby body parts."
