Sadly, an era came to an end Friday when after 25 years on the air, PBS broadcast the final installment of the marvelous Inside Washington.
To honor the event, syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer deliciously told host Gordon Peterson, “[A]ll those times that I savagely attacked you for bias and twisting the news, I stand by every single one of them” (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Gordon is one of the great anchors in this town, and he’s been one of the most wonderful hosts of a show you could ever have. And I want to say that all those times that I savagely attacked you for bias and twisting the news, I stand by every single one of them.
This was met with laughter from Peterson and the entire panel who all knew Charles was saying this with great esteem and affection.
For myself, I have to express my sadness about this final installment.
I’ve been watching IW since day one, and watched its predecessor Agronsky and Company which most people aren’t aware actually created this format of political talk shows.
I will sincerely miss this show, and believe my weekends will be lessened by its absence.
Special thanks to Charles, and despite their liberal biases, Colby King, Mark Shields, Evan Thomas, and Nina Totenberg for all the information and entertainment the past 25 years.
