Comcast is holding a shareholder meeting in Philadelphia next week, and the Tea Party is planning a protest of the company's so-called news outlets NBC and MSNBC.
FreedomWorks recently sent the following email message out to 60,000 Tea Partiers around Philadelphia (published with permission):
Cable provider Comcast is actively supporting Obama’s radical leftist agenda to fundamentally transform America.
The news programs at NBC and MSNBC, run by Comcast CEO Brian Roberts, reflect total agreement with the Obama agenda. These “news” organizations even adopted the Obama re-election campaigns “Forward” slogan. Is this what Comcast subscribers and American voters need?
Brian Roberts has close ties to Obama - he was selected to serve on the President’s Jobs and Competitiveness Council, he hosted an intimate reception for the President at his vacation home in Martha's Vineyard during last year's election campaign, and he openly supports ObamaCare.
On May 15, FreedomWorks activists will protest Comcast at their annual shareholder’s meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. If you’ve been waiting to tell MSNBC boss Brian Roberts that the government doesn’t own your kids, like they claimed in a recent commercial, now is your chance! RSVP here to lend your voice.
When: May 15 starting at 8:00 AM Eastern
Where: The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts Perelman Theater
300 S. Broad Street
Philadelphia, PA 19102
RSVP at this link. The American people deserve a fair press that is free of personal or government influence. Pushing propaganda is misleading and unfair to voters and consumers. It’s one thing to be supportive of the President. It’s another thing to parade propaganda as objective news. In a free market, companies are allowed to pursue what they think is in their best interest – but their consumers are also allowed to disagree!
Come lend your voice in support of unbiased news coverage in Philadelphia and show Brian Roberts that the people deserve better!

Reached for comment, event organizer Deneen Borelli told NewsBusters:
FreedomWorks' Comcast campaign is part of our organization's Market Freedom Project that will be challenging the corporate establishment when they partner with big government.
Our goal is to put a financial price on companies that partner with government by rallying grassroots activists to target the CEOs and board members.
We launched the project last week at the General Electric shareholder meeting and have a petition urging GE's board to return the $100 million in stimulus grants back to taxpayers.
Comcast CEO Brian Roberts has a close relationship with Obama, and the NBC media unit - especially MSNBC - is functioning like state run media. Our liberty depends on a free and independent press and freedom loving people can't allow a major network to act like a public relations agency for Obama or any other president.
Tom Borelli told The Hollywood Reporter Tuesday:
“[This event] is going to be the first step in our Comcast campaign. Conservatives around the country are really upset over the class warfare, race baiting and anti-Second Amendment propaganda advanced by MSNBC. Roberts also can be expected to feel our grass-roots presence at public events where he will be present...Most Americans don’t know who Roberts is or that Comcast owns NBC – we aim to change that."
