Krauthammer Mocks Sequesteria: 'We Have Sequestered Against The Lord And His Wrath Is Great'

Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer on Friday perfectly encapsulated the hysteria the White House is trying to gin up regarding budget sequestration.

Appearing on PBS's Inside Washington, Krauthammer spoke of Biblical plagues that re-appeared Friday telling host Gordon Peterson, "We have sequestered against the Lord, Gordo, and his wrath is great" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

GORDON PETERSON, HOST: The song they’re singing inside Washington this week is a dirge.

PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA: Instead of cutting out the government spending we don’t need, what the sequester does is it uses a meat cleaver approach.

CONGRESSMAN JOHN BARRASSO (R-WYOMING): Saying that the sky is falling all in an effort to try to scare Congress and scare the American people into doing what he wants, which is raising taxes.

PETERSON: Dies Iræ, dies illa. Days of wrath and doom impending, from the old Latin Mass for the Dead. We’ll be talking about the Pope later. Same old song we’ve been hearing for the past few years. Actually, it’s is a big game of chicken. The Sequester, this was the cover of the Washington Post Express handout Thursday. It looks like a poster for a grade b horror film. How horrible will it be, Charles?

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: Oh, it already is. When I woke up on Friday, the Potomac had turned into blood, the frogs were falling from the sky, a swarm of locusts blew in from the West, and the pestilence lay heavy upon the land. We have sequestered against the Lord, Gordo, and his wrath is great.

One wonders if Krauthammer was also taking a poke at the media who have for years bestowed so much reverence upon the current White House resident that they've made him almost God-like.

Jamie Foxx certainly bought into it.
