Yo, Rev Al: thanks to Al Gore, we've got the internets.  We can look things up.  So when, on your MSNBC show this evening, you ripped Republican Paul Ryan for holding a $15-a-head fundraiser, of course we're going to check out how much President Obama pulled in per head at a recent do.  Turns out it was . . . $38,500!  So what's your point?

I'll be back with the transcript, but in the meantime, watch the Rev engage in some very selective outrage!

AL SHARPTON: Some of the champion [sic] of the town hall meetings on health care, that the Tea Party guys really started from, now of a sudden, they don't want to have town hall meetings. They start having sessions where you've got to pay to come in, and high-level third parties [?], because they don't want Upton got. When you see Ryan appearing at a luncheon for $15, Quayle, appearing at a $35 dinner, and $30 CEO-to-CEO.  I mean, when you start seeing--it's like a pay-per-view boxing match to see the congressmen that were the great populists just a few months ago.  And when you consider Upton [sic] treatment, and when people like you, who've never ran from their constituents, are seeing them, you're hearing what we've been saying all along: it's about jobs.  It's about jobs.  Nobody wants to hear cuts with no jobs.

PETER DEFAZIO: That's right.  They're sick and tired. They're concerned, too, about running up a pile of debt, but they realize that if we ask the wealthy to pay their fair share, if we ask multi-national corporations to pay some taxes at least in America if not their fair share, then we would have money have money both to reduce the deficit and to America back to work with productive, long-term investment. I just dedicated a new bridge over the Williamette River today, in Oregon here, something from the last highway [inaudible]--something I did with one of those "horrible" earmarks.

NOTE: As hysterically hypocritical as were Al's remarks, liberal Oregon congressman Peter Defazio's comments might have been more telling.   He wants to suck more money from true job creators so he can attend more ribbon-cuttings on public works projects.
