The liberal media are on a full-court press to make the entire GOP presidential candidate field look hapless and unelectable.
Doing his part Friday was New York magazine's John Heilemann who on "The Chris Matthews Show" said the Obama campaign thinks their guy has "more talent in his little finger than any of these Republicans" (video follows with transcript and commentary):
CHRIS MATTHEWS, HOST: Are they happy with the outlook for the candidates? Are they happy they can beat the field they’re looking at this year?
JOHN HEILEMANN, NEW YORK MAGAZINE: Well, there, there are two things I think. They’re one thing is that they’re extraordinarily concerned about the economy and whether the things that are going on in the Middle East right now are going to cause a spike in oil prices that could derail the recovery and could just mean that it’s almost impossible for him to win. And at the same time they look at the Republican field and they say, “You’ve got to be kidding. Our guy has so much, he has more talent in his little finger than any of these Republicans, and they are going to have to put someone on the field eventually, and our guy will run them straight over.” That’s what they think.
MATTHEWS: That’s what I think. It’s got to change. Something, there’s a disconnect here in the opportunity of that Party and what’s in the field.
Actually, the disconnect here is that a reincarnated Abraham Lincoln could emerge and Matthews et al would belittle him in the same way they are Bachmann, Gingrich, Huckabee, Palin, Pawlenty, and Romney.
The playbook has been the same for decades: the Republican candidate is either too stupid, too corrupt, or too radical to be president.
You'd think after all these years these folks would learn a new tune.
