Bozell, Hannity Address MSM's Makeover of Obama as Centrist and Reaganesque, Continued War on Tea Party Movement

"Can you hear the White House communications department giggling right now? Because they're saying this has succeeded beyond our wildest dreams."

That's how NewsBusters publisher and Media Reseearch Center (MRC) founder Brent Bozell responded on Thursday night's "Hannity" to a montage of mainstream media analysts insisting President Obama is shifting to the center politically.

Yes, Obama's "rhetoric was toned down" in Tuesday's State of the Union, Bozell conceded, but that's because the president "needs to give that perception that he's not as far left as he is," while the "programs are the same," a laundry list of "more and more spending."

Also addressed during the January 27 program's "Media Mash" segment was the media's attempt to create friction between the Republican Party and Tea Party activists:

BRENT BOZELL: Sean, this proves either how little they know, how naive the media are about the Tea Party, or how dishonest they are. You can't have it another way. Look, how can you have a chasm within the Republican Party when the Tea Party movement is not part of the Republican Party? They've made that point abundantly clear from the very beginning. They are an independent movement outside the political parties.
