Liberals like to style themselves as being above ageism, lookism, sexism and judgementalism when it comes to sexual predilections. But in one fell show, Ed Schultz managed to indulge in all of the above.
On his MSNBC show this evening, Schultz mocked:
- 85-year old Phyllis Schlafly for her looks;
- Dick Morris for the way he got his kicks; and
- Liz Cheney as her "daddy's little girl."
Video after the break.
Schultz began his slur-a-thon by saying this about Dick Morris, after noting the former Clinton adviser's criticism of ObamaCare: "such a positive guy there. That's what toe-sucking will do to you."
Is Ed sure he wants to make pundits' proclivities fair game for discussion?
Next, Schultz took a shot at the estimable Phyllis Schlafly. Running down a list of conservative women appearing in the Great American Conservative Women Calendar, Schultz smirked:
"And Phyllis Schlafly. Phyllis Schlafly? I hope that's going to be a short month."
Finally, Schultz took aim at rising Republican star, and University of Chicago law school grad, the brilliant Liz Cheney.
"There's a couple of gals who've been riding the wave of crazy that's been sweeping the nation's right-wingers: 'Shooter's' little girl, Liz Cheney, has been hitting the lecture circuit, parroting daddy's fear-mongering rhetoric.
My, my: how sexist and condescending. Why doesn't Ed invite Liz on his show and see how his smarts match up with those of "daddy's little girl?"
