AP Claims Illegal Alien with Fake Birth Certificate Is US-Born – But, He Says He’s Not

Even though a convicted violent illegal alien had his passport revoked because he gained it using a fake birth certificate - and admits he was born in Jamaica - the Associated Press (AP) is claiming that he was born in the U.S., doesn’t know where he was born and shouldn't be deported.

“FALSE: He is NOT a U.S. citizen,” the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) explained Tuesday, responding to an AP social media post touting its blatantly biased report arguing for the release of the illegal alien being detained in Florida and smearing U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

“Since January, ICE has detained and sought to deport a man to Jamaica. But an AP investigation has found documents that support claims by his lawyers that he's a U.S. citizen,” the AP wrote, linking to its article published Tuesday.

The DHS post debunks the AP’s claims and sets the record straight, noting that an immigration judge has found the man to be an illegal alien and ordered his deportation. Additionally, it explains, the illegal alien has been repeatedly denied citizenship:

“FALSE: He is NOT a U.S. citizen.

“@ICEgov arrested Felibi Biladi Siagha-Coke on January 5.  He is an illegal alien from Jamaica with previous convictions of assault with a deadly weapon, domestic violence, and insurance fraud.

“Siagha-Coke was previously issued a U.S. Passport based on a FRAUDULENT birth certificate that was revoked following an investigation, and his applications for a citizenship certificate have been denied multiple times.

“An immigration judge ordered Siagha-Coke removed from the United States on April 14 — he will remain in ICE custody pending removal and will continue to receive due process. Under @POTUS Trump and Secretary Mullin, if you break the law, you will face the consequences.”

The article, titled “AP investigation: Documents support claim ICE has detained a mentally ill US citizen since January,” refuses to acknowledge that the documents it found are fraudulent.

Instead, the AP tries to make the case that it, not the illegal alien, knows best whether the man – who has served prison time for violent crimes, including assault with a deadly weapon – was born in the U.S. or Jamaica, because he is mentally ill and, thus, wrong about his birth country.

The AP goes so far as to claim that it is “unclear” why the man it argues was born in the U.S. would apply for U.S. citizenship and protection from deportation:

“But beginning in 2024, for reasons that are unclear, he filed a series of applications for U.S. citizenship and protections from deportation.”

Finally, the AP article resorts to smearing the state where the illegal alien is being held, suggesting it is greedily cashing in on “a lucrative arrangement” with ICE, which funds the housing of illegal aliens.

Curiously, the illegal alien’s lawyers “declined to comment” and said their client “would not grant an interview” to AP, the news outlet that’s so desperately trying to help their client.

Buried at the end of its story, the AP concedes that it had not spoken to either the man it seeks to keep in the U.S. or his lawyers.
