A week ago, NBC’s Saturday edition of Today highlighted what it considered an in-depth report from its Boston affiliate on the lone holdout juror in the Lindsay Clancy triple murder trial but in reality was just a doxing operation. Now, a week later, correspondent Emilie Ikeda reported on the threats to the juror but omitted any role NBC had in exposing the man to threats and harassment.
Ikeda began by declaring that, “The sole holdout is breaking his silence, publicly identifying himself as Michael Desronvil. In a statement shared by his attorney, he said he kept getting cut off during deliberations and that he thought the prosecution had enough proof that Clancy knew exactly what she was doing and planned, also saying, ‘I didn't have any doubts.’ In contrast to what other jurors, including the foreperson, have suggested since the mistrial.”
NBC covers how the lone juror holdout in the Lindsay Clancy trial is receiving threats as if their doxing of him had nothing to do with it. She then played a clip of jury foreperson Roni Carlson telling NBC10 Boston, “He admitted he had reasonable doubt, and I started filling out the forms…and then he said, but I'm still not going to say that she's not guilty by reason of insanity.”
That led to another clip, this one of Fugitive TV host Ray Marcel recalling his conversation with Desronvil, “I've been on the phone with him for about an hour. This man cannot live in peace right now. People are knocking on his door, going around his house. Not just his house. His family members’ house.”
Ikeda then moved onto highlighting ex-husband Patrick Clancy’s upcoming interview with 60 Minutes.
Whether NBC or its Boston affiliate will be included in any of Desronvil’s defamation attorney’s future actions remains to be seen. What is certain is that NBC doxed a private citizen who it believes voted the wrong way in a high-profile triple murder case and is now trying to pass off the threats he faces as something that just happened.
