During a devastating ABC interview, U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo dismissed damning news from the Biden administration as lies from former President Trump.
Raimondo spoke with ABC News anchor Kayna Whitworth at the 2024 Democratic National Conventional on Aug. 21. During the interview, Whitworth confronted Raimondo with the news that Biden’s Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) had recently downwardly revised job numbers from March 2023 to March 2024 by 818,000, before showing former President Donald Trump talking about the downward revision on the campaign trail. The sitting Secretary of Commerce ridiculously tried to claim Trump was lying before admitting that she knew nothing about the recent BLS revision. Oof!
When asked if she was worried that these numbers would be politically damaging, Raimondo said, “No, when I hear that, first of all, I don't believe it because I have never heard Donald Trump say anything truthful.” How she could say this while apparently not knowing the numbers her own boss’s administration put out is pretty amazing.
Whitworth immediately corrected Raimondo telling her for the second time that the brutal statistic was originally from the BLS.
This was too confusing for the U.S. Secretary of Commerce. She responded, “I don't, I'm not familiar with that,” before changing the subject to praise Vice President Kamala Harris. Shortly before admitting she had no idea that the Biden-Harris administration had so epically screwed up the job numbers, Raimondo also told Whitworth that businesses longed for “predictability” and thus couldn’t countenance turning from Biden and Harris back to Trump.
Major media personalities panned Raimondo over her flub but also went after the leftist media and the Biden-Harris administration for routinely making hay off of fake job numbers in the past.
After playing a montage of legacy media hosts beclowning themselves on Biden’s behalf, Fox News host Laura Ingraham took them and Harris to task for promoting past job numbers that had ended up being downwardly revised later. Ingraham went on to emphasize how absurd Raimondo’s claims of ignorance were, “What! I didn’t even hear this before. She’s not familiar with which one the Department of Labor or the Bureau of Labor Statistics? She is the commerce secretary.”
Syndicated radio host Mark Levin went after the Biden-Harris administration and the negligent and compliant legacy media on the Aug. 21 edition of his show:
“The Labor Department is run by politicians. So for a year, you’ve been told about all this job growth, that the economy’s going gangbusters, that they inherited this terrible economy and turned things around. No, they haven’t, it’s all a lie! It’s all a lie. And they’re going to get more lies out there and more propaganda and they don’t figure we’ll catch up with on time. Because they have their media boys and girls helping them out.”
