On Monday, Brent Bozell appeared on the "O'Connor & Company" show in Washington, DC on WMAL-FM, the hot station in the nation's capital for conservative talk. The subject was Biden's age issue and how the media tried to play it down after his angry press conference on Thursday night. Bozell said "they passed around the talking points for the day, because they were all saying the same thing." Both front-runners are elderly.
Bozell said despite the media spin, "all of America saw Joe Biden, and it was an absolutely disastrous decision. My guess is it was Joe Biden's decision, to go in front of the press past his bedtime." But they tried to spin it:
NBC’s morning host Savannah Guthrie insisted “Neither one of these candidates are young men, let’s be honest, okay, and both have had senior moments. Donald Trump recently confusing Nikki Haley and Nancy Pelosi on January 6th.”
CNN morning host Phil Mattingly noted “Donald Trump thought the leader of Hungary was actually the leader of Turkey.”
MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell argued Trump should concern voters just as much as Biden: “This feeds directly into a major problem that they are seeing in the polling, where 76 percent of those polled in our recent poll are concerned about his age and far fewer concerned about Donald Trump's age…[He confused] Nancy Pelosi and Nikki Haley.”
Bozell said Biden could have decided to grant the traditional Super Bowl interview to CBS, instead of this feisty press conference. If he appeared in command, the press would have reacted with "check that one off, let's get back to softball questions." But Team Biden is already signaling it's a basement campaign, and the press will be "laser-focused on Donald Trump, trying to prevent him from becoming president."
