Can I get an amen?!
Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders (R-Ark.) signed a ban in her state that would prohibit the use of “woke nonsense.” In a press conference earlier this month, Sanders insisted that “We’re just getting started” with these language bans and luckily social media users were pleased at the move.
In her speech, Sanders said, “We are all here to say, frankly that we’ve had enough. Enough trying to erase women and girls, enough denying our biological differences from men and enough of the craziness that is taking over our country.”
Sanders indicated that her experiences giving birth to three children is a unique experience that men will never understand and insisted that only Conservatives tend to realize that point. “Today, we’re taking a stand against woke nonsense,” she continued. “What frankly started as a fad among a few grad students has seeped down into corporations, the healthcare industry and increasingly state government. It’s demeaning to women and it needs to stop.”
Sanders then signed an executive order that would bring reason back to the Arkansas state government to ban “ridiculous” words including but not limited to: “pregnant people,” “laboring person,” and “birth giver.” She called these words, “nonsense terms.”
“It’s the left that decided that ‘women’ is a dirty word. It’s the left that decided that we needed to toss out basic biology and basic grammar along with it,” she added.
Sanders went on to claim she thinks the left is “just mad that Conservatives are fighting back.”
Specifically, the ban states that official government documents are to use the normal English language when speaking about specific topics. For example, documents must use “breastfeeding” not “chestfeeding,” documents cant use “menstruating person” but must call those people what they are … women. Similarly, “birth-giver” cannot replace the use of “woman” and there won't be any “birthing” or “laboring” person.
“Government should celebrate gender distinctions between men and women—not erase them” the ban said as well as that “It is the policy of this administration to prohibit the use of woke, anti-women words for official state government business.”
In response to a video of the occasion, numerous notable figures on Twitter and everyday users were in support of Sanders’ move.
“Good, this nonsense is finally ending,” Twitter/X and Tesla owner Elon Musk wrote. One user said, “Kind of sad that in Arkansas, common sense has to be legislated. I wish we didn't have to do things like that. Curriculum in K-12 should be next.” Other users insisted that other states should “follow suit” and one even said she felt like she needed to “move to Arkansas” to flee the wokeness in other states.
These users are right. It is quite insane that legislation like this even needs to be introduced, but then again, open your eyes and look at how far our nation has strayed from the truth.
