On MSNBC’s The ReidOut, host Joy Reid invited former Biden press secretary Jen Psaki and writer and pollster Cornell Belcher to wring their hands about a recent column from Washington Post opinion writer David Ignatius in which he called for President Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to forgo running in 2024. This caused Belcher to proclaim that “some of the soft bigotry is showing in the progressives” because they dared to admit aloud that Harris is a horrendous Vice President and candidate.
“Talk to me about David Ignatius. He wrote a column—He's like a foreign policy writer but suddenly he comes out with a column saying Biden should step aside and really kick Kamala Harris off the ticket as well,” Reid huffed to Psaki.
Psaki went on to dismiss the concerns about the Biden/Harris ticket as simply conversations that occur at “dinner parties in places like Washington and New York and L.A., and San Francisco.”
“There are important people in those conversations. But those are not the conversations happening on college campuses and at kitchen tables across the country. And those are the people who are going to elect the next President. Not the dinner parties,” Psaki added.
Proving just how out of touch with reality she is, Psaki claimed criticism of Harris “is not a real thing that comes up in these focus groups.” All the criticism of Harris according to Psaki is “a concern in the right wing and one that is repeated because, you know, Democrats can often be concerned and bed wet a bit.”
Belcher went a step further and claimed that any leftists who dislike Harris are racists.
“I think some of the soft bigotry is showing in the progressives,” Belcher cried. “I really do. I think when you look at the way they've come after this woman of color."
“I think she’s threatening,” Belcher laughably claimed. “I think some of the soft bigotry, even in progressive circles is really showing.”
This is the old Obama playbook. Any criticism of a Democrat of color makes you a racist. The media dutifully go along with it.

7:49:56 p.m. EasternJOY REID: Talk to me about David Ignatius. He wrote a column—He's like a foreign policy writer but suddenly he comes out with a column saying Biden should step aside and really kick Kamala Harris off the ticket as well.
JEN PSAKI: Yeah I mean look David Ignatius is one of the most well-respected foreign policy columnists out there. He’s well-sourced around the world. I think the issue here is that what is outlined in that column or the way I read it, is the conversation that’s happening sometimes at dinner parties in places like Washington and New York and L.A., and San Francisco. That's not unimportant. There are important people in those conversations. But those are not the conversations happening on college campuses and at kitchen tables across the country. And those are the people who are going to elect the next President. Not the dinner parties. So that’s not—If you talk to anybody, and Cornell does focus groups all the time. Who’s working in the Biden world, the DNC, working on campaigns. The concern about Kamala Harris being on the ticket is not a real thing that comes up in these focus groups. It's not in polling. It’s a concern in the right wing and one that is repeated because, you know, Democrats can often be concerned and bed wet a bit.
REID: Can I play one thing—
[crosstalk]
REID: Okay, go, please.
CORNELL BELCHER: I think some of the soft bigotry is showing in the progressives. I really do. I think when you look at the way they've come after this woman of color. Right? Women always have to work harder than men, I don't have to tell you two that. But women of color with power, I think she’s threatening. I think some of the soft bigotry, even in progressive circles is really showing.
