Our world is backwards.
After weeks of controversy, rightfully so, the Gettysburg Area School District in Pennsylvania voted 6-2 to renew the contract for David (Sasha) Yates, a transgender tennis coach for the boys and girls teams in the area. Despite the fact that Yates has been in countless scandals for entering the female locker room and even following female students into it, he’s being rewarded.
Rewind to Fall of 2022 when word broke that Yates, a biological man, allegedly entered a female locker room and stripped into his bra and panties right in front of young students. In April, he also allegedly followed a 16-year-old softball player into the ladies’ room and tried to “strike up a conversation,” Truth Press reported. While at the time he didn’t conduct any physical or overly provocative acts, he still made the young girl “very uncomfortable” and should have never been in there in the first place.
After that incident and with the facilitation of the young girl’s father, the school board decided that Yates may still coach tennis, per his contract, for the rest of the school year but that his contract for the 2023-2024 school year would not be renewed.
However, if you’re reading this blog, you know, that did not happen.
The school board did delay their decision to ultimately allow Yates to lead the team as they were supposedly investigating all the claims of his inappropriate behavior. But on Tuesday, the school board president, Kenneth Hassinger insisted that after their investigation, none of the claims turned out to be credible, according to PennLive.
“Overall I think it came down to widespread rumors that were going on in the public and we wanted to take a deep breath and make sure we had all the information before we took a vote,” Hassinger said, adding, “We were able to go back and look and see if rumors and other stuff, if there was any factual basis behind it — and I think you saw the vote tonight would tell you that the majority of those rumors did not have a factual basis to them.”
Hassinger, a man, admitted he went into a woman’s safe space, more than once, and made students uncomfortable. What makes you think that qualifies as a person who should be around children never mind be their coach?!
In response to the decision, Yates, obviously was “delighted” at the choice to allow him to continue to conduct himself in such a disgusting manner.
“I have been very moved by the outpouring of support that I have received. I am very much looking forward to continuing to support and guide both teams as they represent Gettysburg Area School in the coming seasons,” he said according to PennLive.
Yates began identifying as transgender in 2021 and that really isn’t the issue here. The issue is that he, despite wanting to be a she, is biologically and physically a male. He should not be in spaces with children of the opposite gender, especially spaces of such high vulnerability.
Yet, the school board decided that it was more important for Yates to feel comfortable in the bathroom of his choosing than any female student he’s encountered.
These people are sick.
