Okay, so the left wants us to kill babies, but in the case that we don't we need to make sure that said babies live in horrible, anti-religious, anti-American homes. Yeah, that makes no sense whatsoever.
A Catholic couple in Massachusetts is suing the state after they were banned from participating in the state’s foster care system due to their religious beliefs.
Mike and Catherine Burke claimed that the state of Massachusetts barred them from becoming foster parents “due to their adherence to Catholic teachings on gender, sexuality and marriage.”
"After months of interviews and training, and after years of heartbreak, we were on the verge of finally becoming parents," the couple said, according to Fox News. "We were absolutely devastated to learn that Massachusetts would rather children sleep in the hallways of hospitals than let us welcome children in need into our home."
The Burkes believe that all children should be loved and cared for and they wanted to be that source for children who don’t have a place to call home. Due to Massachusetts’ progressive policies, the Burkes were given only one reason for denying their fostering application. It was that they “would not be affirming to a child who identified as LGBTQIA.”
In the letter that denied their application, the Massachusetts Department of Children & Families indicated that the Burkes, if they were to be foster parents, would need to “to promote the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of a child placed in his or her care, including supporting and respecting a child's sexual orientation or gender identity.” Because the Burkes are Catholic, and those delusions don’t align with their views, they were denied.
Honestly, though, the Burkes seem like the best sort of parents for kids who are looking for a family to love them.
Many kids who enter the foster care system suffer from mental health difficulties and challenges. After all, many of these children grow up not knowing their biological parents or bouncing from home to home. It’s definitely a challenge and they should be loved and cultivated throughout those challenges.
Affirming a delusion is simply going to add to these kids' struggles and push them down a long life of trauma, confusion and suffering. The fact that the Burkes would try to prohibit that from happening indicates that they would be great foster parents.
Not to mention, growing up in a home that encourages kids to trust in God when life gets rough, or to acknowledge that they’re adopted by our father in heaven or that in Christ - no matter what they go through in the foster system - they’re not alone, would be great things for kids in this position to know.
Presently however, unless they win the suit, the Burkes won't have the opportunity to teach those truths to vulnerable kids.
The couple is being represented by the religious liberty group, Becket Law.
“As faithful Catholics, the Burkes believe that all children should be loved and supported, and they would never reject a child placed in their home," the lawsuit stated. "They also believe that children should not undergo procedures that attempt to change their God-given sex, and they uphold Catholic beliefs about marriage and sexuality.”
The thing is, if a family came out and said to the Mass. DCF system that they’d help a little girl pretend to be a boy or they’d allow their foster teens to have gay sex or they’d teach their foster placements about masturbation, the state would likely give them a license and plenty of kids to foster. However, to us level headed people, doing that would take kids from one abusive home and into another.
These kids need parents like the Burkes, not some like the former.
