Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy appeared on Fox News Channel's Fox & Friends and revealed why he's been missing on air and at the White House press briefings for the past few months. During a discussion with his father, Steve Doocy, and co-hosts Brian Kilmeade, and Ainsley Earhardt, Doocy revealed he's been at home taking care of his new baby daughter Bridget whom he and his wife, Fox News congressional correspondent Hillary Vaughn welcomed on February 1.
During his appearance on the network, which was his first time back, he showed pictures of his daughter and said "We were dipping her in a baby pool so, that's her swimsuit. And then the next one, there she is in a future President onesie," Doocy said before joking: "So, keep an eye out for that for the Fox News Democracy 2060 coverage."
Steve Doocy asked Peter where the presidential onesie was a gift from. To which Peter said he had gotten it from someone who works at the White House. Though he wouldn't say who exactly.
Kilmeade asked what Doocy's morning routine had been during his paternity leave. Doocy revealed that he would get up every day at 7 a.m., "Give her a bottle, we go for a walk, do some playtime. Now she's eating solid food, which isn't very solid."
Doocy joked that during his time off: "We did something that I learned about here at the White House over the last couple of years. I would just spend most of the day talking to my child about her overseas business dealings," he said in reference to Hunter Biden.
From all of us here at NewsBusters, welcome back, Peter! And congratulations to you and Hillary on the new baby!

7:03:42 a.m. EasternSTEVE DOOCY: All right. So, Joe Biden's been on vacation. Peter, where have you been for the last couple of weeks?
AINSLEY EARHARDT: Everyone's been asking.
PETER DOOCY: I was with my daughter, Bridget.
STEVE DOOCY: Gee, do you have any pictures?
PETER DOOCY: We do have some pictures.
EARHARDT: Glad you asked.
PETER DOOCY: We'll scroll back through with the phone. We've got a couple of ones. The first one or should I just hold up my phone? There's about a thousand. There we go.
EARHARDT: Aww, look at her.
PETER DOOCY: So, there's Bridget. A striking resemblance to her father.
STEVE DOOCY: Indeed, in the backyard.
PETER DOOCY: And then there we are that's—
EARHARDT: Look at those little ruffles on the bottom.
PETER DOOCY: We were dipping her in a baby pool so, that's her swimsuit. And then the next one, there she is in a future President onesie. So, keep an eye out for that for the Fox News Democracy 2060 coverage.
BRIAN KILMEADE: So, Peter, what was the routine for you when you were off? Give me an idea. You wake up at what time? Noon?
PETER DOOCY: She is a good sleeper. So, yeah, we would wake up about 11:30 and then go for brunch. No, we every day at 7 a.m., she got up, I got up with her. I give her a bottle, we go for a walk, do some playtime. Now she's eating solid food, which isn't very solid.
KILMEADE: And so are you.
PETER DOOCY: It's just some mushed-up fruits and vegetables. Yeah.
EARHARDT: What was her first- What was her first solid food?
PETER DOOCY: She had sweet potato and really liked it.
EARHARDT: That's a thing. Yeah.
PETER DOOCY: And so we would do that. And—
KILMEADE: Is it Thanksgiving?
PETER DOOCY: And yeah—Then we would make her a big sandwich with all the leftovers. Then I just toss it in the blender.
EARHARDT: Do a lot of avocado. They say avocado makes them smart. But now you have to come back to work, right? I guess you got to pay for college.
PETER DOOCY: That's right. We do have to pay for college, although she's very long. So, we're hoping for like a basketball scholarship, maybe swimming.
STEVE DOOCY: Peter–
KILMEADE: Very long.
STEVE DOOCY: So your wife, Hillary Vaughn, seen on TV every day. She was off the first couple of months and then you took over. I'm just curious when you would be taking care of Bridget at home and her mom would be on TV, did she make the connection? There's my mom?
PETER DOOCY: Not yet, but I made the connection since she was chasing around lawmakers. We just can't have any of the House Democrats come over to babysit because they might be upset.
KILMEADE: A little hostile. Right.
EARHARDT: It's actually smart. I'm glad they have leave for the dads, too, because then you can piggyback it and save money. You don't have to do daycare or a nanny or call a grandparent.
PETER DOOCY: And it was really nice. We did something that I learned about here at the White House over the last couple of years. I would just spend most of the day talking to my child about her overseas business dealings.
STEVE DOOCY: And the future President onesie that you were just holding her up in, that was a gift from?
PETER DOOCY: Somebody that works here.
STEVE DOOCY: All right. Very nice. Somebody at the White House.
EARHARDT: I normally don't say who I'm voting for, but I would vote for her.
PETER DOOCY: Yeah, there could be some awkward Q&A's, there. If I'm still in the chair in the front row.
STEVE DOOCY: No kidding.
PETER DOOCY: Like, hey, when you were teething on June 30th, 2023, why didn't you just go to sleep?
KILMEADE: She would wither under questioning.
STEVE DOOCY: Spoken like a true new dad. Peter, we're very proud of you.
EARHARDT: Peter, there's nothing better than being a parent. So, congratulations.
STEVE DOOCY: Oh, I disagree.
EARHARDT: Oh, I know you've made your dad so happy.
STEVE DOOCY: Being a grandparent!
EARHARDT: Can that really be better than being a parent?
STEVE DOOCY: Cathy and I love it! Anyway, Peter, thank you very much for the live report. Get ready. You're up at 8:00 too. All right?
PETER DOOCY: See you then!
