When the U.S. Senate confirmation hearings for Judge Ketanji Brown's nomination to the Supreme Court wrapped up Tuesday, MSNBC's Joy Reid only had five minutes left of her show, The ReidOut, to squeeze in as much venom and hatred against Republicans as she could. To her credit, she was successful. In the five minutes she had to react to Tuesday's hearings she managed to call Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) "thuggish" multiple times and accused Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) of never attending law school classes at Harvard.
After the Senate Judiciary Committee gaveled out of session for the night, the camera turned to Reid for her to introduce her guests and give their initial reaction to the day's testimony. Former U.S. Attorney Harry Litman was the first to give his reaction and claimed the last hour of Jackson's testimony "was the best hour I've ever seen in a confirmation hearing. She took Cotton’s totally nasty and foolish line of questioning and clobbered him with perfect temperament."
Reid predictably agreed, before chiming that the word she "would use for Tom Cotton was thuggish. I thought he was thuggish." Litman interrupted Reid calling Cotton a "bully" and a "cretin."
Later on, in the unhinged segment, Reid insulted Conservatives who rightly refer to 1619 Project author Ibram Kendi as a critical race theorist, "idiots, and liars." Reid wailed that "Ibram X. Kendi is not a critical race theorist. And everyone who says he is an idiot or a liar."
She then turned her rage against Senator Cruz "supposedly, Ted Cruz went to law school, apparently, only Ketanji Brown-Jackson was in class and he was probably skipping classes and sleeping because he doesn't know what critical race theory is."
Reid didn't stop with Cruz. She then melted down over Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) questioning Jackson over her sympathy for pedophiles, before turning her rage against all the GOP Senators who dared to ask tough questions of Jackson:
Josh Hawley, who had nothing to say, and fully supported Brett Kavanaugh. They’re claiming that they are the defenders of the integrity of childhood. They’re going to go after child pornography and rape. And they’re going to defend the integrity of childhood.
Brett Kavanaugh was accused, credibly, of rape and the victims were teenage girls and college students. High school and college students! So Josh Hawley, and Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham and all the rest of you, and Mike Lee, and Tom thuggish Cotton. You didn’t defend teenage victims of the man you gleefully put in a lifetime position on the Supreme Court. You don't get to say anything about Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. She bested you intellectually and you're mad about it. Stay mad!
Of course, it's a complete bald-faced lie to say Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was credibly accused of rape. Reid was clearly chomping at the bit to get on the air and go ballistic on Republican Senators who wanted to use their constitutional duties to question a Supreme Court nominee. She knows she has no intellectual response to Justice Jackson's comments sympathizing with pedophiles so she had to lash out and lie about Justice Kavanaugh.

HARRY LITMAN: Today was solid for her, but this last hour I think – I think– I'm a little reeling from sort of an emotional reaction. But I think it’s the best hour I've ever seen in a confirmation hearing. She took Cotton’s totally nasty and foolish line of questioning and clobbered him with perfect temperament. And then this back and forth with Booker, I found it completely genuine, moving, dignified, emotional. I really think it's the best hour I've ever seen on sort of on both sides of the aisle in any nominee have. And I've been watching these awhile.
REID: I have to agree with you I agree. I'm not an expert like you are, Harry. But I agree. And the word I would use for Tom Cotton was thuggish. I thought he was thuggish. That’s what I’m going to go with.
LITMAN: Bully! Cretin!
REID: Thuggish! I want to go to you, Paul. These men thought of themselves as prosecutors today but Tom Cotton didn’t understand that there's not a name, victim, and a crime. There's no one she would contact, I thought that was embarrassing. I thought Lindsey Graham was screamy and weird. I mean, it was a performance. Josh Hawley, ridiculous. But your thoughts.
