2022 is the Biden Administration’s first (and maybe only?) midterm election year The result of which will ultimately decide the fate of the rest of the Democratic Party’s agenda. Knowing this, ABC’s Good Morning America decided to lie to their viewers on Sunday and bemoan election integrity laws that are being passed in certain states around the country.
Co-host Janai Norman asked ABC political director Rick Klein to explain to her and everyone watching at home the “changes to voting laws in a number of states. That could have a big impact as we're now in a midterm year.” Klein tried to spook people by suggesting that “the very structure of voting has changed in this country in a substantial way just in the last year.”
He then outright lied about how 19 states have “put new laws onto the books that make it harder to vote or change the voting processes in a way that adds a burden for many, many voters.” Alluding to voter integrity legislation that would require things like voter identification so voters can prove who they say they are when they go to vote, in addition to just rolling back pandemic measures.
Klein then continued to prove once and for all that he’s just a Democrat operative dressed up as a journalist by repeating the lie that “many of those laws were inspired by the lies that President Trump and his supporters told. Others were just sort of straightening up loose ends after the Covid era.” This is despite the fact that Republicans have been pushing for voter integrity legislation long before Trump was even thinking about running for office.
Not to let facts get in the way of pushing the Democrat Party agenda, Klein continued “but make no mistake. People are going to be voting differently, including in some very big states like Georgia, Texas, Florida, Arizona, big changes on the books.” Klein concluded by urging voters to “do their homework and figure out how those changes will affect them.”
Or they can simply pull out their driver's license or another form of photo identification and ensure they’re at their polling place before the polls close on Election Day. That is all a registered voter needs to provide.
Instead of correcting him, Norman simply repeated Klein “like you said, people have to do their homework, and voting rights will remain in the spotlight as we head into the Midterms.”
If you listened to this report on Good Morning America this morning, you would think Republicans were requiring voters to guess the number of beans in a jar or pick the correct number out of a hat to be able to vote. Shameful!

So this is not just an academic argument. Many of those laws were inspired by the lies that President Trump and his supporters told. Others were just sort of straightening up loose ends after the COVID era, but make no mistake. People are going to be voting differently, including in some very big states like Georgia, Texas, Florida, Arizona, big changes on the books. People have to do their homework and figure out how those changes will affect them, and keep in mind Janai, we're already in it. The first voting of 2022, believe it or not, is going to be taking place in Texas just next month in advance of their March 1st primary.
