The kids were all indoctrinated with concern over global warming, infused with unthinking anti-war sentiment, disdain for our soldiers, and enthusiastic for Father Obama and his big government machine. Sadly, it appears that not one of these kids have been taught by their teachers about liberty, freedom, personal responsibility and American principles.
Lawrence Hitchcock, chief executive officer of the Web site kidthing.org where the e-book appears, told the AP of all the god-like powers Obama seems to have that teachers impressed upon kids across the country.
"We had, `My dad's out of work, fix the company, please get more jobs,' Hitchcock said. "There were Latino kids saying, `Please change the immigration laws so my dad can come back from Mexico.' This is a profound snapshot of a social narrative of young kids during an important moment in history. It really kind of stunned us what came in through the front door."
So, teachers are telling kids that it's Obama's job to "fix companies" and tear down our sovereignty so that there is no border between the U.S. and Mexico. I am a bit surprised that these "educators" are pretending to be "stunned" by what they've found that kids think. After all, these teachers are telling kids that they should be feeling in just such a way.
Here as some of the "hopes and expectations for President Barack Obama" published in this left-leaning downloadable document.
Anthony Pape, 10, of DuBois, Pa., offered: "I hope that we will have no war ever again. I mean why are we fighting why can't we all be friends."
Fellow 10-year-old Sasha Townsend of Soquel, Calif., had a similar request, and then some.
"I would appreciate it if you would try to make this a greener planet and try to bring home the troops and end the war," the fifth-grader wrote. "I am very luckey because I am not part of a military family, but it saddens me to hear about all the people who die in Iraque and know that somewhere In the world people are greiving over a lost family member."
Wow, so kids are being told that they are "luckey" if they have no family member in the military? Obviously the U.S. military is seen as odious by teachers and kids respond with disdain revealing what they’ve been inculcated with. This blindly pacifistic anti-war sentiment is also disgusting and simpleminded. These poor kids aren't being exposed to the consequences of pacifism it is clear. Were we a pacifist nation, Europe, if not the whole world, would have been goose-stepping and speaking German these last 70 years!
In fact, this whole book seems like a throw back to the hippie culture of the 1960s with all its empty moralizing and starry-eyed foolishness. Then again, look at who is sponsoring it: the anti-intellectual NEA.
There is a lot more, of course. One child thinks it’s in a president's power to make an international "holiday for children," another, Aaron Van Blerkom, thought that Obama could somehow control all of nature and yet another thought that Obama could "cure cancer."
"Make fires and earthquakes not exist. Make no tornadoes or any of those things that break things."
An 11-year-old boy from Ohio drew himself in tears at the side of a relative. His dream, he wrote, is that a "cure for cancer will be found" with Obama in the White House, "Because it took my aunt to a better place on father's day."
What we see here is the messiah complex that we are used to seeing in the Old Media.
Another child drew Obama as the "new sunrise of America." One made Earth and labeled it "Obamaland," and still another created the president's face as half dark and half light skin tones with the words: "United We Are One."
Sasha's drawing is an all-green globe. Her enthusiasm for Obama and his ability to get the job done speaks volumes: "I just think he's really, really awesome."
Unfortunately, there is no sense from these kids that they have any idea of the concepts of limited government, personal responsibility, or human nature. This is the fault of the teachers encouraging the schmaltz and failed philosophizing of the liberal agenda.
Of course, these are just the juvenile fantasies of kids, to be sure. But the promotion of this nonsense by the NEA proves that such silly, childish, uninformed fantasies truly fit the NEA's agenda of pushing such anti-American ideals. And the further wide-eyed amusement with which the Associated Press treats this story shows that the AP is lined up right there with the NEA.
