If you were trying to protect your loved ones from a terror group, the last thing you’d do would be giving the murderous band information about them. But, apparently, the U.S. military leadership is in such a weak negotiating position with the Taliban that they are giving them info on our citizens and allies leaving the country in the hopes that they’ll let identify them and let them out safely.
Talk about risking lives.
According to a disturbing Politico report from “three U.S. and congressional” sources, “U.S. officials in Kabul gave the Taliban a list of names of American citizens, green card holders and Afghan allies to grant entry into the militant-controlled outer perimeter of the city’s airport.” So, our people essentially told the Taliban, "Here are your potential targets. Here is who is with them and this is where they’re headed. Please don’t hurt them."
This Afghanistan pull out just gets better and better, doesn’t it?
Apparently, this very trusting strategy on the part of our leaders was done to “expedite” the process of getting American citizens and our Afghan allies out of the country. Of course, there are many more traditional schools of thought which posit that our citizens should be nowhere near the Taliban -- “which has a history of brutally murdering Afghans who collaborated with the U.S. and other coalition forces during the conflict.” Our troops should be escorting them out personally, but that ship has sailed. Now we are relying on the Taliban to coolly let our people through.
Well, at this point we might as well ask nicely. Politico reported that the Biden team has already decided to rely on “Taliban for security outside the airport.” Essentially, the bad guys, who we are trying to protect our civilians from, are the ones being tasked to protect them. Oh, and they know who our most important innocent civilians are.
We really hope the Biden administration told the Taliban “please” when it asked them not to kill our guys. What incompetence!
To call this a nail-biter of a situation would be an understatement. Of course, not everyone in the U.S. government has been OK with this strategy. Upon hearing about it, the news “angered lawmakers and military officials.” One anonymous defense official told Politico, “Basically, they just put all those Afghans on a kill list.” He added, “It’s just appalling and shocking and makes you feel unclean.”
Ah, well, there’s some sense.
Meanwhile a spokesperson for the U.S. Central Command refused to provide a comment. Oh, that’s seems to be the level of transparency the whole Biden regime is on at the moment.
Some Biden officials defended the strategy of trusting the Taliban to move our people during a Capitol Hill hearing earlier this week. “They had to do that because of the security situation the White House created by allowing the Taliban to control everything outside the airport,” one official said.
Oh, great. This will be one of history’s great dumpster fires, won’t it?
