Why Does MSNBC Condone Omar’s Latest Bigoted Smear of Israel, U.S.?

June 11th, 2021 12:18 PM

The corrupt journalists at MSNBC continued to hide and deny the hateful, anti-Semitic, anti-U.S. attacks from Democratic Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (MN), spinning her latest smear as only in need of a “clarification” after “right-wing media” made a big deal out of it.

As an MSNBC graphic on Friday sanitized, “Omar Clarifies Middle East Comments After Criticism,” host Hallie Jackson gently spun, “The Congresswoman appeared to compare the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban.” That's exactly what Omar did. But since the network didn’t read or show the June 7 tweet, here it is:

Instead, Jackson turned into a crisis PR agent, helping the bigoted Democrat, saying, “Some of her high profile allies are coming to her defense this morning, blaming right-wing media for they say twisting her comments about the Middle East.”

Jackson quoted:

The Congresswoman clarifying, saying, “To be clear, I was in no way equating terrorists with democratic countries with well-established judicial systems.” That seemed to satisfy party leadership and House Leader Nancy Pelosi.... Is this the end of drama or the saga for this?

Reporter Garrett Haake attempted to say that it wasn’t Omar who's a bigot, but her critics: “She had another statement of support later in the day from House progressives that point out it is the one of the few black female Muslim members who gets jumped on by Republicans in these moments.”

Shocked at politicians being political, Jackson marveled at Republicans “trying to make this a political issue!” Jackson and Haake insisted it’s absolutely wrong to allow Republicans to turn Omar into the Democratic version of Marjorie Taylor Green:

HAAKE: Republicans would very much like to make Omar into the Democrat’s version of Marjorie Taylor Green. These comments are obviously very much not the same.

JACKSON: Totally.

Why is one controversial and the other not? They didn’t say.

On Thursday, ABC and CBS ignored Omar’s hate. On Friday morning, none of the networks covered it or the “clarification.” In 2019, ABC, CBS and NBC attempted to bury the (then) latest anti-Semitism charges against the Democrat. In 2012, Omar called Israel “evil” and said the Jewish nation has “hypnotized the world.” (She has since deleted that tweet. A screen shot is below.)

The protection racket for the bigoted Omar was sponsored by Verizon and Oscar Meyer. Click on the links to let them know what you think.

MSNBC GRAPHIC: Omar Clarifies Middle East Comments After Criticism

HALLIE JACKSON: But elsewhere at Capitol Hill also a debate inside one party on the future of Congresswoman Ilhan Omar. That is because some of her high profile allies are coming to her defense this morning, blaming right wing media for they say twisting her comments about the Middle East. The Congresswoman appeared to compare the U.S. and Israel to Hamas and the Taliban. The Congresswoman clarifying, saying, “To be clear, I was in no way equating terrorists with democratic countries with well-established judicial systems.” That seemed to satisfy party leadership and House Leader Nancy Pelosi. So, Garrett Haake, who is joining us now here on set, lovely to see you my friend, so is that it? Is this the end of drama or the saga for this?

GARRETT HAAKE: Well, Democrats certainly hope so. The statement from Pelosi last night  was in part an admonishment of the Congresswoman and in part a “thank you for clarifying.” She had another statement of support later in the day from House progressives that point out it is the one of the few black female Muslim members who gets jumped on by Republicans in these moments. But lest you think this is entirely over. The National Republican Senate Committee  — Senate Committee, not House members —  just sent out an e-mail while I have been sitting here on set with you calling out senators with Democratic Senators and Democratic Senate candidates for not condemning her comments.

JACKSON: Trying to make this a political issue!

HAAKE: Republicans would very much like to make Omar into the Democrat’s version of Marjorie Taylor Green. These comments are obviously very much not the same.

JACKSON: Totally.

HAAKE: But don’t expect this issue to go away quietly.
