During his show on Wednesday night, hack non-comedian Stephen Colbert sounded like a standard DNC operative. The host took it upon himself to try to defend Kamala Harris after her disastrous interview with NBC’s Lester Holt.
In the interview, Vice President Kamala Harris was asked if she had plans to visit the southern border due to the immigration crisis. At-at some point, we are going to the border,” answered Harris. “We have been to the border, so this whole-- this whole-- this whole thing about the border, we've been to the border. We've been to the border.” “You haven’t been to the border?” asked Lester. “And I haven’t been to Europe,” the Vice President weirdly answered.
Harris was getting dragged for this answer by most of the internet. Colbert tried to defend her and failed miserably. “This was not a great answer for Harris, but also not a great question by Lester,” said Colbert during his monologue. “If quarantine taught us anything, Lester, it's that you don't need to go somewhere in person to work on it. The V.P. may not have visited the border, but I'm sure she's making a lot of progress with it over zoom.”
After that very lame defense, he took a shot at Republicans saying, “Republicans attacked Harris and called on her to get a firsthand look at the border. Yeah, Republicans know that's how you solve any problem: You go there for a photo op. It's like the kids say: Pics or you didn't fix.” While saying this, he showed a picture of Senator Ted Cruz who was actually at the border and looking into the crisis as he was elected to do.
It’s ironic that Colbert accuses Republicans of going to the border to do a photo op, considering his friend Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez did the same thing when she posed for a photo-op crying outside an "empty parking lot,” when she went to the border to see the crisis.
Previously unpublished pictures of Ocasio-Cortez in tears near a border detention facility in Tornillo, Texas came to light in 2019 when a photographer, Ivan Pierre Aguirre, posted them on his Twitter account. Observers quickly noted that Aguirre only posted photos of Ocasio-Cortez crying, without clearly showing what she was looking at -- and, after other photographs came to light, it appeared there wasn't much in front of her.
This hypocrisy shouldn’t be shocking coming from Colbert, who has praised AOC numerous times and has cheered on her far left views.
Colbert’s hypocritical humor was brought to viewers by Progressive and Starbucks.

STEPHEN COLBERT: The trip did not go very smoothly. Smoother than that just went for me. The rockiest moments came when Harris told Guatemalan immigrants bluntly, "Do not come," after which she was blasted by Progressives and Republicans. So, bipartisanship! Then, in an interview with Lester Holt, Harris struggled to answer this simple question:
LESTER HOLT: Do you have any plans to visit the border?
KAMALA HARRIS: At-at some point, we are going to the border. We have been to the border, so this whole-- this whole-- this whole thing about the border, we've been to the border. We've been to the border.
HOLT: You haven't been to the border.
HARRIS: And I haven't been to Europe.
COLBERT: "I haven't been to Europe, Lester-- just a random example for no reason. I have not been to, I don't know England, Brussels, Geneva, a cushy meeting with the G7 in Cornwall on June 11. Is it too much to ask to have a slice of pizza with the queen? I assume she eats pizza, what with King Arthur's roundtable."
