When Can MSNBC Get Any Dumber? When Brian Williams and James Carville Plot Dem Strategy

May 26th, 2021 4:00 PM

Echo chamber? The discussion on MSNBC was an insult to echo chamber. Disgraced liar Brian Williams talked to Democrat James Carville about whether Democrats are being tough enough in fighting Republicans. You won’t be shocked to find out that the Democrat, the Democratic fan and ex-Republican Michael Steele were very concerned Democrats notch some victories.

Williams, who lost his NBC Nightly News job for numerous fabrications, worried to Carville that Democrats might be blowing their moment: “Are the Democrats right now being tough enough? Are they taking what they have out for a spin? Knowing as you do the numbers for them may not get this good again for a good long time.”

Carville, you’ll not be stunned to learn, wants Democratic toughness: “I think the Democrats do need to be tough and aggressive.” Citing an op-ed by Carville calling for, you guessed it, toughness, the MSNBC host “Has your party lived up to that challenge you laid down? And/or are the Republicans doing it for you through their intransigence?”

Williams asked the political equivalent of just how great is Joe Biden: “James, generally do you think Joe Biden is sitting on a perhaps untapped and unmeasured [political capital]… Do you think he gets points for trying to return America to a country where we don't have to -- not forced to think about who the president is every 20 minutes? Where, his polling is quite high.”

Speaking of Brian Williams, it must always be reminded, this is the guy who falsely said he was shot down in Iraq in 2003, who told tales about seeing dead bodies while covering Hurricane Katrina. Williams repeated his Iraq lie about being shot down multiple times. He ultimately lost his Nightly News job as a result.

BRIAN WILLIAMS: James, the news organization that reported that McConnell was so taken by the interview you gave vox, that it was a Democratic strategy that he distributed it to his caucus to our audience I'll remind you, here's some of James' comments in that. “Democrats have to make the Republicans own that insurrection every day, they have to pound it. they have to call bookers on cable news shows.” Picture LSU football. “They have to get people to write op-eds. There will be all kinds of investigations and stories dripping out for god knows how long and Democrats should spend every day tying all of it to the Republican Party. James, a dual question for you. Has your party lived up to that challenge you laid down? And/or are the Republicans doing it for you through their intransigence?

WILLIAMS: James Carville. I'd like you to riff a little bit, even though we are not Vox. Are the Democrats right now being tough enough? Are they taking what they have out for a spin? Knowing as you do the numbers for them may not get this good again for a good long time.

JAMES CARVILLE: I think the Democrats do need to be tough and aggressive. I have a piece coming out in major publication tomorrow that's going to urge Democratic Party to tackle this crime issue front and center. Trump the worst president in modern American history on the issue of crime, and Democrats do need to be more aggressive. I really believe that. What Governor Steele said, I thought it was brilliant. Only question I kind of wondered, does the modern Republican Party deserve Marjorie Taylor Greene? Is she a logical outgrowth of the things that Governor Steele was talking about? I don't know how much she's -- how far out of the current, can't use the word Republican mainstream in the same sentence together but to the extent there is, I don't know how far away she is from the norm.

WILLIAMS:  James, generally do you think Joe Biden is sitting on a perhaps untapped and unmeasured --…  James, do you think Biden is doing better than is measured? Do you think he gets points for trying to return America to a country where we don't have to -- not forced to think about who the president is every 20 minutes? Where, his polling is quite high?
