There they go again. Sometimes journalists get irritated when stories they deem irrelevant become actual news. During MSNBC's impeachment preview coverage on Thursday, journalists lamented that some conservative media isn't properly covering the proceedings, but are instead focusing on stories, such as the Dallas Mavericks refusing to pay the national anthem, that, according to Stephanie Ruhle, aren't even true.
Katy Tur contended that Trump's lawyers are trying to "tap into an emotion of rage that the president has been treated unfairly for years" and that "the conservative media echo chamber to amplify that. t's already happening. We showed you what OAN is saying, what Newsmax is saying, what Fox News is saying."
The fact that Fox would talk about something other than impeachment greatly annoyed Ruhle, who declared, "There is one story going on right now, and it’s this impeachment." But, according to Ruhle, it's worse than that, because "they're inventing stories. That NBA anthem story isn't even true and the fact that they're leading with that. Think of the millions of people that watch that every night, that's their news, they're not getting all this information."
Huh? How is it not true? The Mavericks stopped playing the national anthem. Now they do. Sounds like the MSNBC journalists live in another world.
Apparently, CBS and ABC are not properly concerned with impeachment as they've covered the Mavericks-anthem controversy. Ruhle also did not explain why the story is false, which is a strange accusation considering the NBA told the Mavericks to start playing the anthem again.

KATY TUR: What they're going to try and do, though, the defense team is they're going to try and tap into an emotion of rage that the president has been treated unfairly for years, that Democrats were always out to get them and they’re going to rely on the conservative media echo chamber to amplify that. It's already happening. We showed you what OAN is saying, what Newsmax is saying, what Fox News is saying.
HALLIE JACKSON: What they're not showing.
TUR: What they’re not showingSTEPHANIE RUHLE: That’s amazing.
TUR: I mean, as the trial was going on, Fox News was talking about culture wars and the NBA. There is a disconnect.
RUHLE: There is one story going on right now, and it’s this impeachment. If you watch some conservative media, they're inventing stories. That NBA anthem story isn't even true and the fact that they're leading with that. Think of the millions of people that watch that every night, that's their news, they're not getting all this information.
