It doesn’t seem that the media has learned anything after they completely mangled their predictions that red states like Florida and Georgia would see catastrophic consequences for opening up early. On MSNBC this afternoon, “conservative” analyst Rick Tyler was ready to make more hyperbolic predictions about red states getting “hit hard” by the coronavirus in coming months. Tyler even used the Memorial Day holiday to trash President Trump as a “debased” traitor to this country because he apparently hasn’t done anything to combat the coronavirus.
The MSNBC “conservative” and ex-aide to Sen. Ted Cruz, was on MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell Reports and spouted the same liberal talking points as the Democrat panel he was on with.
To commemorate Memorial Day, he went on a rant about how we were witnessing the “physical, mental and spiritual decline” of President Trump, who has “abandoned” the country’s efforts to fight the coronavirus. He warned that because of Trump’s inaction, we were “paying for it with lives” and the next fatal target, he guaranteed, would be the president’s voters in red states:
Just juxtapose the beautiful words that Donald Trump was actually reading at Fort McHenry, and it rings very hollow, because we have seen great leaders -- FDR, Margaret Thatcher, Ronald Reagan, Winston Churchill. We've all witnessed their physical decline, and we witnessed their mental decline. But we're witnessing this with Donald Trump as well, but we're also witnessing a spiritual decline. This is a man who is degraded, and he debases -- he talks about this epidemic as if it were to a war, and it is a war, but he's abandoned the field. He's a dereliction of duty. Everything we would do to fight a war in the conventional sense this president has decided to completely ignore. And we are paying for it with lives and treasure because of what we have lacked in preparation, what we continue to do, lack in preparation. There will be a second wave. We don't have to guess about this. And it is coming. And it won't be in blue America like in New York City or Baltimore or the other cities. They've already been hit hardest in the blue America. It will be in red America. It will be in rural America, in counties that many of us have never heard of. And the likelihood there is you will know someone who is affected, you will know someone who will have died. And we are giving the wrong information. Think how wrong Dr. Birx's model was. She revised her models. Down 60,000 dead. Well, today we will pass 100,000 dead, and it is only the beginning of the summer. And we must double down and rely on our governors, I guess, to prepare, because red America, rural America, where Trump voters live, is going to be hit next and it's going to get hit hard.
It’s really sad that the media can’t even put aide their hatred for President Trump for one day to honor all the lives lost protecting this country.
On this unknown second wave, it’s also worth remembering how nasty and wrong journalists were attacking red state governors for their decisions to open up public spaces such as beaches, claiming they would cause catastrophic death in just weeks. Now the media’s goalposts have moved, since reality didn’t match their fearmongering narrative.
