Playing DNC Defense, Scarborough Overstates Trump Age, Accuses HIM of Mental Decline

May 20th, 2020 8:46 AM

Hair-sniffing aside, what are the two biggest strikes against Joe Biden? 1. He's old, and 2. he's losing it mentally.

So in a pathetically transparent attempt to play defense for poor ol' Joe, Morning Joe today attacked President Trump for being...old, and losing it mentally.

Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski opened today's show by unsubtly suggesting that President Trump has mental problems. Scarborough made multiple references to President Trump looking "detached from reality, bizarre . . .  You feel sorry for him . . . What's wrong with him? I worry he's, he's not getting any better, that's for sure . . .  There are these bizarre disconnects . . . weird things he's saying."

Scarborough then gave away the game, making clear what his ploy was all about:

"It is so ironic that Trump's campaign team actually go after Joe Biden for non sequiturs, for stumbling, for getting lost halfway through a sentence when [Mika interjects: "or a decline"] that's what Donald Trump has been doing now in a very public way for three-and-a-half years.

Then, with sneering condescension, after, as is Joe's juvenile wont, once again referring to the president as "Donald," Scarborough said:

"let me tell you something . . . at your age: what are you, 75, 76? You shouldn't still be having fantasies."

As Scarborough surely knows, President Trump is 73, and Biden is 77. Let me tell YOU something, Joe: if you have any remaining pretense of journalistic integrity, don't intentionally mislead your viewers.

Here's the transcript.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: He just looks so detached from reality, he looks so — it just seems so bizarre and it’s sad. You feel sorry not only for the country he’s running but for him when Peter Alexander a month ago or so —

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: What can you say to Americans?

SCARBOROUGH: What do you say to Americans who are scared, and he just blurts out — it’s like there’s this disconnect between the question and the response. It’s this — I just don’t understand.

MIKA: Well, that question —

SCARBOROUGH: -- why would he do that and what’s, what's — what’s wrong with him? I mean, I worry he’s — he’s not getting any better, that’s for sure.
>>
MIKA: Yeah.

. . .

SCARBOROUGH: There are these bizarre disconnects, and they’re showing up in campaign ads. There are these weird things he’s saying off the cuff. Again, it’s so — it is so ironic that Trump’s campaign team actually go after Joe Biden for non sequiturs, for stumbling, for getting lost halfway through his sentence, when --

MIKA: Or a decline.

SCARBOROUGH: -- that’s what Donald Trump has been doing now in a very public way for three-and-a-half years.

. . .

SCARBOROUGH: You see, here's the problem, Donald [points at camera as if he's pointing at Pres. Trump]. You keep attacking Barack Obama. And let me tell you something. You think [laughs sarcastically] -- I guess when I was five years old I had ideas too. I was going to build a rocket ship and fly to the Moon and beat Neil Armstrong there. But your age. What are you: 75? 76? Like, you shouldn’t still be having fantasies.
