On the late Monday/early Tuesday Late Night show, liberal NBC comedian Seth Meyers devoted his regular commentary to attacking President Donald Trump and "sociopaths on the right" who defend him, and specifically deriding Fox News contributor Karl Rove as a "gross a**hole."
After he started "A Closer Look" by mocking President Trump for his recent remarks about the pandemic, the liberal host then showed a clip of the President talking up his plan to create a Space Force, and cracked: "Look at that goon grinning from ear to ear. He hasn't looked that happy since Prime had a two for one deal on gold toilets. I mean, compare that to the face he made the night he found out he was going to be President."
Meyers then showed an image of Vice President Mike Pence on-screen as he added: "I'd say he (Trump) looks like he saw a ghost, but it's probably the one he brought with him."
After taking a moment to celebrate former President Barack Obama criticizing Trump in a commencement speech, the liberal host then moved to call it "deranged " for Trump to label some of Obama's actions as "Obamagate" as Meyers continued: "Obama's reemergence comes as Trump pushes a totally deranged, made-up scandal that even he can't define, but which he has already named "Obamagate" in an attempt to distract from coronavirus."
Then, without informing viewers that most of the media have tried to undermine Trump's "Obamagate" attack on the former President, Meyers misleadingly suggested the media are giving it too much credibility: "And that dumb name has already been parroted by the media."
After showing clips of different journalists using the word "Obamagate, he continued: " Stop trying to make Obamagate a thing. Just because the President makes up a word doesn't mean we have to take it all seriously."
Meyers then took aim at Rove with childish insults:
So the death toll in the U.S. is over 88,000 and unemployment is at its highest levels since the Great Depression, and the President is accusing his predecessor of a made-up crime, and yet the sociopaths on the right like former Bush advisor Karl Rove -- you know, the guy who looks like you put glasses on a moldy kumquat -- are more concerned with Obama's mild, indirect criticism of Trump.
After playing a clip of Rove being critical of Obama, the liberal comedian further excoriated him "Okay, I know we've all lost track of time in quarantine, but Karl Rove being a gross a**hole on Fox News to get a President reelected, is this 2004?"

NBC's Late Night with Seth Meyers
May 19, 2020
12:49 a.m. EaternSETH MEYERS: Look at that goon grinning from ear to ear. He hasn't looked that happy since Prime had a two for one deal on gold toilets. I mean, compare that to the face he made the night he found out he was going to be President. I'd say he looks like he saw a ghost, but it's probably the one he brought with him. [PICTURE OF MIKE PENCE] So, amid all of this, former President Obama offered some rare public criticism during a couple of virtual commencement addresses this weekend, and say what you will about him -- he certainly had his flaws as President -- but it was so comforting just to see a politician capable of showing empathy and compassion and speak in coherent sentences.

MEYERS: Obama's reemergence comes as Trump pushes a totally deranged, made-up scandal that even he can't define, but which he has already named "Obamagate" in an attempt to distract from coronavirus. And that dumb name has already been parroted by the media. [CLIPS OF JOURNALISTS SAYING "OBAMAGATE"] Stop trying to make Obamagate a thing. Just because the President makes up a word doesn't mean we have to take it all seriously. Every day, Trump tweets "Obamagate" in all caps. There's a good chance it's his Twitter password, and he doesn't realize he's already logged in. Doesn't even make sense as a scandal name. Obamagate sounds like something in a scifi movie we all have to walk through to restore the correct timeline.

MEYERS: So the death toll in the U.S. is over 88,000 and unemployment is at its highest levels since the Great Depression, and the President is accusing his predecessor of a made-up crime, and yet the sociopaths on the right like former Bush advisor Karl Rove -- you know, the guy who looks like you put glasses on a moldy kumquat -- are more concerned with Obama's mild, indirect criticism of Trump.
KARL ROVE, FOX NEWS CONTRIBUTOR: It's so unseemly for a former President to take the virtual commencement ceremony for a series of historically black colleges and universities and turn it into a political drive-by shooting.
MEYERS: Okay, I know we've all lost track of time in quarantine, but Karl Rove being a gross a**hole on Fox News to get a President reelected, is this 2004?
(....)
MEYERS: The President is just deeply incapable of and uninterested in doing his job. He clearly wishes he could just pretend the coronavirus pandemic was over, and to distract from it. He's peddling a made-up scandal about his predecessor that even he can't explain. That's Trump's one skill -- his ability to exploit the media's weaknesses. From birtherism to Obamagate, whenever he concocts some deranged new conspiracy theory, the media responds by saying:
[cuts to clip of President Trump speaking to an audience]
PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: We want more -- we want more.
