Not everyone in Hollywood has fallen in love with the House Dems’ impeachment trial grandstanding.
Trump supporter and Hollywood legend Jon Voight gave a stunning rebuke of Democrats’ impeachment case. The 81-year-old actor described the case, which is now being heard in the Republican-held Senate, “a disgrace to mankind.”
In a video posted to Twitter on Friday, January 24, the Ray Donovan actor expressed his revulsion with the latest efforts to remove President Donald Trump from office. The country had just finished listening to four straight days of Democrat House Managers’ opening oral arguments against the president. Clearly, Voight, like the rest of the country, had had enough of Rep. Schiff’s grandstanding.
Voight’s almost two-minute address to fellow impeachment skeptics began with an appeal to the ideas of “truth” and “trust” which America and the presidency were built upon. “Let us remember what this house stands for, this White House,” Voight urged, adding, “it stands for trust and stands for moral obligation. It stands for the safety of the United States of America.”
Of course, Voight reminded fellow Republicans to reconsider whether we’ve become so cynical as to presume that the office of the presidency has become some den of thieves as the far left claims day in, day out. He urged Americans to stick by the president they voted into the office and placed their trust in.
“Now listen here my fellow Americans of the USA, the president is in much danger from this radical left-wing group,” Voight claimed, describing the anti-Trump, pro-impeachment group led by the likes of Schiff and Rep. Jerry Nadler. Voight refused to pull any punches, declaring, “I say ‘radical’ because this group has only filthy lies and distortion of the mighty truths that have been written.”
The “truths” Voight referred to include the inalienable and fundamental freedoms enshrined in our Declaration of Independence. The actor, a supporter of the Trump administration’s policies, added that we have gained these “truths” back “with President Trump."
“And what does the left want to do?” he asked, “To knock down a nation of God’s glory.”
“This is a disgrace to mankind and disgrace to the people of the United States of America. This is a crime,” Voight claimed. He called the whole charade “an impeachment to take down a nation’s success.”
Voight then ended his speech with a prayer to protect the truth “from these cruel individuals of the left.” He asked God “to place His hands upon this nation of the United States of America and bless and protect the truth for our President Donald Trump so he can protect his legacy as one of our greatest presidents.”
Voight was one of Trump’s earliest celebrity endorsers, telling Breitbart in 2016 he admired how “honest” the candidate was. In May 2019, the actor called Trump the “greatest president since Abraham Lincoln,” and he was recently honored by the president with the National Medal of Arts.
