MSNBC's Heilemann on Trump 'Russian Agent' Denial: Maybe Lying Like Clinton, Nixon

Damned if you do . . .

When Jeannine Pirro of Fox News asked President Trump this past Saturday if he had ever worked for Russia, Trump responded by saying her question was "the most insulting thing I’ve ever been asked."

The liberal media proceeded to accuse Trump of having "dodged" or "evaded" the question. Yesterday, Trump addressed the issue in unequivocal terms, flatly stating, "I never worked for Russia."

So naturally, now the MSM is ripping him for that, too. Take MSNBC analyst John Heilemann on today's Morning Joe:

"The fact that he said yesterday, I've never worked for Russia, just made you think of [unintelligble] our two previous Presidents embroiled in potential impeachments: Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon saying, Bill Clinton: I never had sexual relations with that woman. And Richard Nixon: I am not a crook. Turned out they were lying. Maybe Donald Trump is, too."

Heilemann's stunt reminds me of the way that back in 1988, Democrats ripped George H.W. Bush for his "read my lips, no new taxes" pledge. But when Bush relented and did a deal with Dems to raise taxes, the liberal media first praised him, and then, once the campaign kicked in, criticized him for failing to keep his word. After he lost, he was a statesman again.

Bottom line: there's basically nothing a Republican politician can do to win praise from the MSM other than turning on his party. Or, better yet, passing away.
