Far-left Daily Show comedian Trevor Noah appeared on ABC’s GMA Day, Tuesday, to gush about just how amazing it was to meet Barack Obama. Promoting his new comedy special, the comic recounted his brain “freezing” and not working as he encountered the Democrat. This is in stark contrast to how Noah talks about Donald Trump, a man the Comedy Central host has compared to an African dictator and an asteroid shaped like a penis.
Talking to ABC’s Michael Strahan, Noah recited his “amazing” fan meltdown over meeting Obama:
It was embarrassing. I got to meet President Obama in the White House and it was one of the most amazing experiences. You know what happens is when you meet people who are beyond famous, like there are some people where you just lose what your brain is supposed to be doing. So, the mouth and brain, nothing connects. Nothing works. When he walked in, in my head I was like, “President Obama is going to walk in. I'll say this to him. I'll make a joke about Africa, Africa and me, Africa and him. Africa, thing. And then he walked in and he was like, “Trevor.”
Noah was so enchanted and dazzled, he confused the word “aides” with the disease AIDS:
It was just a moment where my brain froze because he asked me about this event. He was like, “Trevor, I'm doing a little thing for my aides and I hope you'll be there.”I was like, “You have AIDS? He was like, “What?” I was like “No. What? You?” Then he explained. It's obvious now. Don't get me wrong. It's obvious now. It threw me off completely. We don't say that where I'm from. We don't have, like, “Let me introduce you to my aides.” That's not a thing in Africa.
As noted earlier, this is a stark contrast to how Noah talks about Trump. In 2018, he referred to the President as an “asteroid headed towards Earth, but it’s shaped like a penis.” On another occasion, he sneered that “dictator blood” is what keeps the President alive.
In 2017, the Daily Show host compared Trump to AIDS and Godzilla.

MICHAEL STRAHAN: We got to say congratulations on Son of Patricia. Funny and clever as always. There’s this Obama story.
TREVOR NOAH: Right.
STRAHAN: You embarrassed -- it was embarrassing.
NOAH: It was embarrassing. I got to meet President Obama in the White House and it was one of the most amazing experiences. You know what happens is when you meet people who are beyond famous, like there are some people where you just lose what your brain is supposed to be doing. So, the mouth and brain, nothing connects. Africa, thing.” And then he walked in and he was like, “Trevor.”
And I was like — I honestly didn't know what to say. We had a good time. We did this interview. I tell this story on the special about how the worst part was it was just a moment where my brain froze because he asked me about this event. He was like, “Trevor, I'm doing a little thing for my aides and I hope you'll be there.”I was like, “You have AIDS? He was like, “What?” I was like “No, you?” Then he explained. It's obvious now. Don't get me wrong. It's obvious now. It threw me off completely. We don't say that where I'm from. We don't have, like, “Let me introduce you to my aides.” That's not a thing in Africa. I get it now. I totally get it. But it was one of the craziest moments to have with the he was so nice about it. He didn't laugh at me. He didn't insult me. He was like “No, what it means is the people that help me.” I was like, “No, no. I knew that. I knew that.”
